Good day all hiveans, today I will be making some more Splinterlands related content again, it's Thursday - for me the day I don't have to work AND the day most of the times, the new Social Media Challenge is launched so that's some nice timing!

The Social Media Challenge for this week we had before:

As a passionate splinterlands player, having remarkable moments isn't a rare thing, so I want to share the most remarkable thing for me in the last week.

At these low card prices I've been slowly but constantly buying new cards and improving my deck from gold to max level, and in many cases it was almost cheaper to simply buy a new max level summoner than add the remaining BCX to get my level 6 summoner up to level 8 so I've been killing two flies in one blow and upgrading my main account to max level summoners and delegating my gold level summoner to my alt account, while it doesn't have a lot of the much needed legendary cards it's easier to compete in high silver and low gold to farm SPS and glint and just having fun when my main account runs out of battle energy.

As I'm not a whale, I'm putting €20 private money in to my account every month plus half of the rewards I get from making these blogs, the other half I keep saved in Hive Power to grow my hive account.
I regularly make a wish list on a piece of paper, yeah I'm old, or just old skool and like working on paper for these things 😅

I put the card I want, the amount of BCX needed and the estimate what it will cost me or make a price I want to buy below, and just scout the market daily. In the past I made bid buys for this on peakmonsters but lately I've been using aqualis market for this because I get a rebate on fees AND it burns the rest of the DEC, it's a really great project for Splinterlands and if you haven't checked it out already, you should. 🙂

On my list for a while were two epic water cards I kept running in to, Wave Brood and Igor Darkspear.

Wave Brood receives the Return Fire ability on top of it's Void ability, making it a great card for ranged only battles, and it has a nice synergy with Angelic Mandarin to heal it with it's Triage ability.

Igor Darkspear receives the stun ability and I wasn't planning on maxing this one out but just get it to level 4 to get the stun, but it loses 1 HP point and the extra damage on max level is really nice as well, especially in low mana battles so I figured I would do best by maxing both of these beauty's. 😍

The problem is, or was... they're not cheap... as in it's not just 1 or 2 dollars to buy them, I know this game isn't cheap in general and Chaos Legion is the cheapest, and still very strong in my opinion, but still I needed some time before I bought them...

As you can see, both of them are close to $10 (and I've been playing them not long ago) but I figured I needed to just take the bite, I can enjoy them forever and damn it was a good choice, I'm having a lot of fun with them, and winning battles I would otherwise have lost, so more SPS and Glint for me too!

Igor's stun has been saving me on moments I didn't think the stun would be very helpful, but stun also prevents certain self healing monsters from healing, like Baakjira and Cursed Windeku and sometimes the stun can really make the difference to turn the battle in my favor.

I made a little #welcometothefamily image for posting on x and leothreads as well, we have to keep pushing splinterlands content on the socials outside of hive, it's important to spread the word about this awesome game which has been quite an addition to my life in general since I've started playing it over three years ago.
By doing so consistently hopefully we can attract new players, the flywheel gets activated and the moon is the next stop.

Show us a battle already!

Yeah, enough small talk and rambling about splinterlands in general, let's go!

The battle I have saved for this post is a Modern League battle from earlier this season, a 37 mana Keep your distance / Unprotected / Aim True battle with only the Life splinter locked out. Because armor was deactivated it made no sense to pick Kelya for this fight so I went for Quix and pick water to play with my new toys, I would've like to add the River Nymph to my team for the Amplify, to make the return fire stronger but I didn't fit with the mana cap of 37.

First look at the battlefield:

Well my opponent seems to disagree that choosing Kelya wasn't the best option, but maybe he doesn't own Quix or simply didn't thought about this option, we're all humans and sometimes I just overlook very obvious things as well because I'm focusing on a certain strategy for example.
The max Baakjira is annoying though, it's going to be a pain to eat trough the healing, to be honest I'm not sure about the outcome of this battle, but I tend to under estimate my own team many times, or just over estimate my opponents team.

My Line-Up:

• Summoner: Quix the Devious - reason: More options than water alone, better choice than Kelya.
• First position: Djinn Oshannus - reason: Void, good damage, the speed and phase is obsolete here.
• Second position: Wave Brood - reason: Taunt, return fire and void.
• Third position: Angelic Mandarin - reason: Triage to heal Wave Brood.
• Fourth position: Naga Assassin - reason: It was just to fill the 2 mana I had left.
• Fifth position: Igor Darkspear - reason: High damage for 2 mana, Stun.
• Sixth position: Sea Stalker - reason: High damage, the speed sucks but it doesn't matter with Aim True.

The Battle:

Round 1: Not a lot has happened just yet, just some overall damage because return fire.

Round 2: Ooh nice! Igor stunned Baakjira, preventing the heal and right after Baakjira got killed, it got resurrected again but it won't survive long, Oshannus will fire before it can heal next round.

Round 3: No, it was the Naga Assassin of course, that killed Baakjira, it's faster than Oshannus! Thing are speeding up now, killing the enemy Oshannus as well, looking good! The backline is close to death as well because of the return fire, it's so much fun and don't regret spending my monthly budget on these two bad boys!

Round 4: The kulu swimhunter killed itself, hitting my wave brood reflecting the damage and at the end of round 4 it was over!

Over 300 glint and close to 4 SPS, I'll take that! Having fun AND earning at the same time, can it be any better!?
I know the big boys make over 40 SPS a win on some battles but they have a much more expensive account, the more money you poor in to it, the more money comes out in general, but it's the fun factor that counts the most for me.
