Unhedged Prediction Market MCP Server for AI Assistants

Unhedged Prediction Market MCP Server for AI Assistants

Unhedged's prediction market MCP server connects your AI assistant to Unhedged. You can research markets, review your positions, and place trades through a conversation, with access controlled by your API key. We provide setup instructions for 11 AI clients.

Imagine finding a Bitcoin market and asking your assistant to explain exactly what makes each outcome win, when trading closes, and what positions you already hold. Our prediction market MCP server gives your assistant the tools to retrieve that information directly.

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, an open standard that connects AI applications to external tools and data. An MCP server for prediction markets exposes actions such as searching for markets and reading their details. The assistant can call those tools as part of your conversation.

Our package, @unhedged/mcp, runs on the computer hosting your AI client and communicates with Unhedged's API. The documented clients are:

  • Claude Desktop
  • Claude Code
  • Codex CLI
  • Cursor
  • Gemini CLI
  • GitHub Copilot (VS Code)
  • Grok Bot
  • Pi
  • OMP (Oh My Pi)
  • Hermes
  • OpenCode

Pi requires an MCP adapter, included in our setup instructions. Grok Bot connects through a Command server. For Team Bots, this configuration works only in the owner's own chat; shared team access requires a remote HTTPS MCP server, which the Unhedged package does not currently provide. See the Grok Bot plugin documentation for those access rules.

Other AI clients that support local MCP servers may also work with @unhedged/mcp.

Start with a research question:

Find active Bitcoin prediction markets on Unhedged. Explain the possible outcomes, what determines the winner, and when trading closes.

The assistant can search for matching markets, retrieve their resolution rules, and check implied probabilities and trading activity. You can then ask follow-up questions about what it finds.

Resolution rules deserve particular attention. A market title gives you the broad question; the details establish what counts as a winning outcome. Having those details in the conversation makes them easier to examine before you decide whether to take a position.

The same workflow works for other topics. Ask about sports or esports, narrow the search to an event, and explore the markets available on Unhedged.

You can also bring your account into the discussion:

Review my positions and open orders. Show my available balance, explain what's locked, and identify where my exposure is concentrated.

With the appropriate read permissions, the assistant can retrieve balances, portfolio information, bets, and open orders. That helps you examine how individual positions fit together and how much of your balance is already committed.

For users who want to trade through their assistant, the server supports pool bets and market, limit, stop-loss, and take-profit orders. It also provides tools to cancel or replace orders, including batch placement and replacement.

You could research a market, inspect your existing orders, and then ask the assistant to submit a limit order with a price and quantity you specify. Research and execution can happen within the same conversation.

Access is defined by scoped API keys. Each key grants a specific set of permissions. A research-only key can allow market and account reads without granting permission to trade. Placing and cancelling orders require additional permissions, while withdrawals require a separate, explicitly enabled permission. You can review these options in the Unhedged API permissions reference.

Your AI client's settings determine when it asks for confirmation. Choose the key's permissions to match the tasks you want the assistant to perform.

To connect Unhedged to your assistant:

  1. Sign in and create an Unhedged API key. The setup guide includes a research-only permission set.
  2. Make sure Node.js 20 or later is installed on the computer running the server.
  3. Follow the instructions for your client in the Unhedged MCP setup guide.
  4. Open a new session and ask the assistant to find a market and explain its resolution rules.

You don't need to write a trading bot to try it. Your first session can be as simple as exploring a topic, understanding a market, or reviewing your account.

We're building Unhedged to fit into the tools people already use. MCP brings market research and account actions into your AI workflow, with permissions you choose.
