The deposit contract for Ethereum 2.0 has crossed 58,000 ETH as of Nov. 12, roughly above 11% of the required amount.
- The contract address shows that stakers have deposited more than 58Kk of ETH, roughly 11% of the 524,588 required
- The contract first went live on Nov. 4, and the first 3 days saw the majority of contributions stream in with over 40,000 ETH staked by Nov. 7
- Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has also made a contribution, depositing 3200 ETH or approximately $1.3 million into the contract
- Staked funds will be locked in until some time between ETH 2.0 phase 1 and phase 2, with an expected yield of just below 10%
- The earliest launch date for the mainnet is December 1, if the staking threshold is met a week prior; if not, then the launch will occur a week after
