On June 4, payments solutions platform Crypto.com (CRO) has announced that it has hired former visa and Coinbase executive Antonio Alvarez as its Chief Compliance Officer. Alvarez will lead worldwide regulatory compliance as Crypto.com plans to expand its ecosystem.

Alvarez arrives following a stint at Coinbase, serving as its VP of Compliance. He has also served as the VP of Compliance at Western Union and Senior Business Leader at Visa. He was excited to be a part of a platform he describes as having a foundational commitment to “security, compliance and risk management.”

Crypto.com expects that Alvarez’s extensive experience with compliance internationally will aid their expansion efforts, as it introduces new features and attracts more individuals to its 2+ million userbase. Most notably, however, it has struck a new insurance deal that sees $360 million worth of assets protected.
