What is Y’all Street?
Southern states in the USA are well known for a laundry list of unique and quirky sayings, like "Bless your heart," "Too big for his britches," to name a few and "Everything is Bigger in Texas". Y'all is a contraction of "you" and "all" is what forms "y'all" when addressing or referencing two or more people. Usage of the colloquial pronoun dates back to 1856 in a writing from A.W. Arrington. Now Y'all is literally taking on a whole new meaning.
Why North Texas is set to become the next financial hub in the US.
The Texas Stock Exchange (TXSE) is preparing to launch in Dallas as a fully electronic national securities exchange. A Lone Star State play on Wall Street, Y’all Street will function similarly to the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq Composite and is expected to be the “most well-capitalized exchange entrant to file a registration with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The TXSE will be run by 22 financial veterans, including CEO James Lee and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry as a director. While representatives come from the whole southeast quadrant of the US. Dallas's booming financial sector, affectionately known as “Y'all Street.”
How big is the TXSE already?
Being pre-launch it's notable the TXSE has already received $120 million in investments. Some of the funding comes from financial giants such a s BlackRock and Citadel Securities. After submitting SEC registration later this year, the group hopes to begin facilitating trading next year and listing in 2026.
How is Texas ramping up to support Y'all Street?
University of Dallas is already offering courses and curriculum geared specifically to Y'all street requirements. Such as Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Treasury Professional (CFP), and Master of Finance (MS). The one glaring item I did not see was anything related to Crypto/Blockchain. It could potentially benefit from Texas' proposed BTC reserve SB 21, and its a natural extension due to the massive amount of crypto miners already in Texas
