Months ago I began the journey from being a never-crypto type to a crypto enthusiast. It has been quite the journey, something that has become a bit of a hobby, as well as a bit investment, and a lot of fascinating thoughts of WTF is going on with cryptocurrency.
One of the most interesting things I have learned about cryptocurrency in reading and writing about my thoughts is how many irrational and fervent "pro" or "anti" certain coins/tokens individuals there are.
I have written about not understanding the value of Bitcoin, of learning about what "a store of value" means, about whether or not Ethereum is a "long con," how much I think of Cardano (in my opinion, what a solid foundation, somewhat antithetical to the whole cryptocurrency movement), that I believe in the long term future of Jasmy, that I don't think Solana is long for this world, and how the whole cryptocurrency space needs to weed out the fraudsters and criminals (for those naysayers, I know there is fraud and criminals in fiat), and about how certain things impact (or at least how I think they impact) the perception and prices of cryptocurrency.
I have learned that there are way too many emotional investors in the cryptocurrency world. There are people on this site who write about coins/tokens that they do not like simply because they (in my opinion) bought at the wrong time and lost money. There are articles about them. I bought a ways into the current bear market, have lost some money, and still believe in the foundation of what I invested in. That does not change. I have spread out my portfolio enough that in the long run, even if some go under (likely to happen), I will be up overall. Is that not the way we should live? Believe in something that is real and tangible, not something that makes us feel good. I personally don't have to like or dislike something for it to be good for me.
My FEELINGS on something does not make it so. They are just my feelings. In psychology, I tell my clients at times that our feelings sometimes lie to us. This is definitely true in cryptocurrency. Imagine being someone who bought into the hype of Bitcoin at it's ATH. Now, they would have lost a lot. But the feeling of losing does not matter, if they can not run from the investment, in the long run they will still come out ahead. Never buy the hype, buy the soundness of something. This is true in looking for a job, a partner, or when investing.
Also, what I have learned is that many "pro" crypto people do not take well to healthy challenging and criticism. I get some responses from my posts challenging a coin, an exchange, or wanting to weed out fraudsters and criminals (really the same thing) with replies like ("fiat has them too...") No s**t Sherlock. There is also an easier way to prosecute them in the fiat system, and more safety nets to make sure an individual's investment is safe. I think we can have the financial freedom cryptocurrency is trying to achieve and a lot of the security the fiat system provides. Maybe it is not possible, but I believe it is.
Finally for this post, I have learned that I like taking a small and calculated risk to supplement my investment portfolio for the betterment of my and my families future.
Here's to the future of cryptocurrency!!!!
