NFT and Metaverse are increasingly getting embraced as the new business paradigm. Apart from the possibilities of expansion in the digital world, some of the most prominent global organizations accommodate NFTs as a way of safeguarding brand value. And this is not all: blockchain creates a unique collaborative space for artists from all across the world, enabling them to realize their creative drive within the cutting-edge web 3.0 paradigm. While the ethical values of mutual trust, accountability, and transparency increasingly step into the first place, decentralized technology opens opportunities previously unseen, leaving us only one step away from experimenting with a new 3D dimension without leaving home.
That is why, for any progressive fashion house, the possibilities of blockchain integration pose the question of the top priority. While the transmission to decentralized technology may not be easy and prompt, the reward in the form of a worldwide reach to clients and creative artists is undisputedly worthwhile. The realization of this fact came to the House of Adamo at the early stage: Adamo NFT is the first collection created to bridge the gap between the physical closing and the decentralized space of blockchain, enabling the unmatched capacity of releasing the new clothes collection through Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). This innovative breakthrough marks the start of the era in which fashion and technology are intertwined - a perfect illustration of a principle in which the total exceeds the sum of its part.
What motivated you to start your company?
We saw an opportunity to combine our interests, crypto, NFTs, fashion, and business. With all of us having an appreciation for art, in whatever form that may be, and also having explored the possibilities that web 3.0 technology can offer the future it only made sense for us to pursue this further and make something of it.
What pitfalls (challenges) did you face while creating a fashion house?
We have experienced a whole lot of “no’s” and “that is not possible” throughout this journey. To have an idea is one thing, to bring it to life is a whole other thing. With limited knowledge in the space, there was a whole lot of learning as we did things. It was difficult to find a designer who was willing to capture our vision and bring it to life. After finding a designer it was a struggle to find a 3D artist who could produce a product that was to our liking. Every 3D artist we encountered endured a vetting process and we narrowed down the large list to a select few before going with Juan Ledezma. But we wanted the art to come with utility, and provide customers with an immersive experience, to let their art take them far beyond just their subjective opinions. This is where we spent a lot of time looking for a development team that would be willing to help bring our ideas to fruition. After countless calls with numerous developers all over the world, we found Branded AF and their talented team that was willing to go the distance with us.
Do you have your own team of designers? Please tell us about their responsibilities and the story of your acquaintance.
We were able to connect with Paige through a mutual connection. When we pitched to Paige the idea she seemed to be really on board and was excited to work with us. After consulting with her multiple times we were able to put together a list of ideas and themes that we had in mind for the first line and from there she was able to create a vision board so that she could use it as a reference as she designed the line. Paige was incredibly organized and with an open line of communication we were able to make modifications as she began to present us with various clothing articles.
What are the short and long-term goals of your project?
The short-term goal is to create an NFT collection with expert-level art that is successful and will serve as a valuable investment for Adamo supporters. The long-term goal is to continue to create a fashion business that merges both the digital and the physical world, influenced by a community of creatives and innovators.
What are the hallmarks that distinguish your fashion house from others?
A hallmark of ours is that we have great versatility in the type of fashion we produce. We are not tied to any genre of fashion and embrace all forms of creative expression. Another hallmark is the versatility of our garments as they will be represented on different metaverses in different styles. As a brand, we also want to foster a tight-knit and transparent community and go against the grain to many projects whose founders are anonymous. By being public our credibility comes from the fact that investors can hold us accountable. Our intentions are pure and genuine and entirely focused on growing our brand.
Where do you draw inspiration for your collections?
Streetwear, flamboyant, 90s, vintage, casual, chic, sexy.
How much time does it take to create each collection - from the idea to its realization?
From the idea to the final render on marvelous, a garment takes 4 weeks to produce. There is a strenuous revision process of each garment which takes 2 weeks as we decide on how we want it to look. From there we turn the paper designs into digital art which is the most difficult part of the process.
What's the most important thing you're working on right now, and how are you making it happen?
Establishing ourselves as a Fashion House. By connecting with resourceful influencers and experts in the fashion space.
Take me through the skills of your top team members. What is each person best at?
Praise is a natural leader, he is diplomatic and often waits to listen to all sides of an argument before making a decision. He has a natural ability to understand market trends and blockchain technology. Praise often works great with Eric in recruiting talent to join the team, vetting potential partners. Eric is a tremendous athlete and has represented his country of Trinidad Tobago in the Summer 2021 Olympics. He is extremely goal-oriented and his focus is what frequently drives the project forward.
Jonathan brings a very unique perspective when it comes to all aspects of the project; his role is very vital when it comes to looking at things from a different angle. His energy and passion for the project's success is something we all fall back on.
Firas is the creative director for Adamo. His vision has helped guide the style and direction of Adamo’s art. Firas is extremely intellectual and brings an eye for fashion to the team.
What's the hardest decision you've made so far?
The hardest decision we have made so far is where to allocate certain funds of our budget.
How do you see the future portrait of fashion, NFT art, and human presence in the Metaverse in 10 years?
In 10 years there will be a sense of ownership in fashion which will be integrated into the blockchain. More specifically, the same way people like to express themselves through fashion, people will express themselves with their digital assets (NFTs). Human presence in the Metaverse will be unlike anything we can currently comprehend. It will bring about a new age of connection and community similar to when the Internet was implemented into society.
