I have already introduced River Secchia near the big town of Sassuolo here
That post was about walking on the riverbed.
On that same day, however, I also walked for a couple of kilometers along the cycle-pedestrian path that is located along the right river bank ...,

... but at an altitude of about ten meters higher than the river bed that is hidden by vegetation.

There are trees that stand over 15-20 m high as they have the base near the riverbed.

The route is very popular. It is not easy to be able to take photographs without the presence of people, even if during the early morning and with a little patience ...

When I passed there it was in May and Rosehips (Rosa canina) were blooming.

The rosehip fruits can be used for preparing jam, but they also are appreciated by animals (predators too, like foxes, in the absence of anything else can eat rosehips fruits or even blackberrys)

There are other kinds of wild fruits trees. In these late weeks, I find many of these unknown fruits trees. I don't know them and I am not sure, but I think they are edible.

In the past, Robinia's flowers (Robinia pseudoacacia) were used to make fritters, especially in non-wealthy families. The plant is very very diffused and grows spontaneously everywhere.

I Italian it is called "Ginestra dei carbonai" (literally Broom of the charcoal burners) (Cytisus scoparius). It produces a pod (like peas) which explodes releasing the seeds.

The route winds along the Secchia River for many kilometers reaching the outskirts of the city of Modena
