Another rain-loving mushroom, strongly dependent on water. This one is airy, delicate, and beautiful. This is an arboreal species called the Cistus variegatus, which appears only in humid, rainy weather.

At first glance it looks a bit like an oyster mushroom, but it has nothing in common with it, other than its appearance.

This mushroom is inedible, but not poisonous. It also doesn't have any special flavor or aroma, so it's mainly for admiring.

The mushroom doesn't grow to an impressive size. Its cap rarely exceeds 3-4 cm in diameter. It is incurved, sometimes wavy, and white.

The mushroom has very thin and delicate gills, white in color, but with age they turn brown.

The stem is practically non-existent, and the fungus grows directly into the substrate with its cap.

You have to enjoy the mushroom quickly, because when I visited it the next day after the photo session, there was nothing left to photograph.
