Mushroom reaches up to 15 mm in diameter and up to 2 mm in thickness; the young fruiting bodies are hollow, have a spherical shape; during puberty, they open, become flat and have a starry shape; in their youth they have a coffee color, beige, cinnamon, and their surface is covered with tiny scales of a slightly lighter color; as the skin matures, an inner surface appears, which is smooth and cinnamon-red to red-brown or even black.
Flesh pale brown, thin and hard; there is no smell and taste.
Occurrence: Sporocarps grow from cracked bark on dead branches of alder and hazel, usually in clusters of a few or a dozen pieces, although they are also found singly; they can be found in winter and early spring; they are rare.
Value: Unaffected fungus.
