Hi guys,
have you ever visited one of those famous spots in a nice city, like the statue of liberty or the Eiffel tower and took one of the shots you've seen a thousand times on social media?
Well, to be honest, I've done it. Going to a well known spot, influenced by shots I have seen on Instagram or other channels and took exact this image, which has been taken before, but not by everyone.
This is not only boring for watching images later, but also makes it useless, to take those photos, since it is not something unique. A while ago, one of my favorite german youtubers made some kind of a challenge, to take a photo of a place of interest, but a different kind of photo, so that you can spot the landmark, but won't find it on the first sight or it's not in focus.
Inspired by this challenge, I also tried to do something similar with a landmark in my hometown. We do have an old mine here, and on top of a small hill some artists have build a sculpture out of old wood-beams, which were used to stabilize the mining-tunnels.
I've taken a lot of normal shots in the last years on which you can see just this sculpture and a bit of landscape in the background. So, today I went outside and tried this challenge, you might comment if I've mastered the challenge, or not....

Let's start with this image, it's already a bit older, but while searching for images from this spot, I found this image and in my opinion it fits quite well into this challenge.

The trunk of a birch is always nice to look at, since it is so cantrasty!

Hiding behind a bench I realized, that the pillar of this bench nearly has the same shape, as the landmark itself. Nice little detail!

A lot of broken glass makes you watch your step.

As you might have recognized, the hill is a bit skew...
Yap, that it again. I hope you enjoyed this short trip to my hometown Waltrop in Germany. By the way, all those images are shot by me, using my sigma DP1 quattro (except the first image). if you like this look of images and never heard of a foveon sensor or this DP1 Camera, check out my other article. I'm explaining, what a foveon sensor is, and why I like shooting with it.
Maybe you enjoyed this challenge, and want to startover? Let's go, and if you post the images somewhere, please left a link in the comments.
Have a nice day!
