In this episode we will take a look at some of the games that I am playing that can earn you crypto or NFTs that you can turn into crypto.
The first game I found was Gods Unchained. This is a card game, very similar to Hearthstone except you can own the cards and trade them or sell them. You get some free cards to start, so there is no need to make any purchase to get started. As you battle in the arena you earn more packs and flux. You can then use this flux to combine cards into tradeable NFTs.
I enjoy this game but I did find as I climbed the ranks it was taking longer and longer to get a match up in the arena which has stopped me playing for now. Hopefully if more people start playing I will start playing again as I enjoy this type of game.
Lost Relics is still in an alpha stage and only has 1 developer but despite this it is quite popular. It is a dungeon based game, you equip items and take some healing potions with you and kill monsters in the dungeons and open chests hoping to get a blockchain item. There are virtual items and weapons you can get in game which are not exportable and you will lose virtual items on death except the starting weapons. Originally the game was based on the ethereum blockchain and due to high gas fees it made moving your blockchain items to your enjin wallet quite expensive, although you can buy transfer crystals in game with gold (the in-game currency) to transfer items out so it is possible to play for free and get your blockchain items out for free eventually. The game is currently switching to the jumpnet system to make transfers of items a lot cheaper.
I do enjoy this game but it is very repetitive and grindy, however if this is your thing then it is worth a look.
One of the most popular NFT games out there right now although I wouldn't class it so much as a game right now. In Alien Worlds you equip tools (you start with 1 free shovel), choose a planet, choose a player owned land on that planet and mine for TLM and the chance to drop a NFT. Be sure to join their discord as there are lots of events and promotions on different lands for free tools and free NFTs. This game can be quite lucrative. The TLM you mine is tradeable on Binance and on Alcor. The game is based on the WAX chain and I would recommend when you first start out to sell some of your TLM for WAX on the Alcor exchange and stake some cpu within the WAX wallet or you could find yourself quickly running out of cpu and unable to play. You can claim staking rewards daily from WAX staked in the WAX wallet so this could be looked at as an investment also. There are plans ahead for Alien Worlds for an arena also and with Binance involved and a new Binance planet supposedly in the pipeline I think this game has a bright future.
Splinterlands is another card based game based on the HIVE engine. You collect tradeable NFT cards and battle against other opponents to win DEC which you can then either sell on HIVE or use to purchase more cards. The game is not quite free, it does involve spending $10 on the summoners spellbook to get started, but this is worth it in my opinion and you will get a good amount of non tradeable cards so you can play. There are events in game you pay DEC to enter and win prizes based upon your performance in the event. Keep an eye out for the event with free NFT cards guaranteed, this seems to run every weekend, this event has been quite lucrative for me as I have sold some of the cards for wax. Despite the small layout to get started in this game it is a very good game and you can make your initial investment back reasonably fast.
Rising Star is a music themed text based game. You do missions to earn Starbits and a chance at tradeable NFTs. The NFTs increase your stats allowing you to do better missions and get better rewards. The game is based on the HIVE engine and the Starbits you earn in game are tradeable there. You can also stake your Starbits against records in the game to earn more Starbits. The game is free to start playing and earning. I have not been playing this game for too long so I am not sure how lucrative this game can be but so far it looks promising and as with all NFT games it only takes 1 bit of luck to drop a good card and you can make a pretty sum. Overall it is a pretty simple game, you start a mission and then return when the timer is up to see your rewards.
