1- Did you ever hear about Bitcoin?

KA (Male, 66, retired) : Yes.

[a definition]: I don't know from where it began. It's a digital currency that has a value. You can buy things using it from shops that accept it. It is not paper money, it is intangible.

There are unreal banks with cards for it I think, I heard about it but I don't have enough information.

[how it works]: I don't know how it works.

[how to keep it]: Not a clue how to keep.

[how to spend it]: No idea how to spend it. It is a future currency, not for now.

HN (Female, 63, housewife): No.

LA (Female, 42, graduated, employee): Yes.

[a definition]: It's a digital currency. A Chinese guy made it, it came from China and the adjacent countries and who made it, made a lot of money and a lot of people lost all.

[how it works]: I don't know how it works.

[how to keep it]: No idea.

[how to spend it]: I don't know.

MS (Male, 41, employee): Yes.

[a definition]: A digital money, it's like something in Cloud (he means the Iphone cloud), or similar to the credit card.

[how it works]: You buy the coins in dollars, Bitcoin has a value in dollars, like stocks this is how i understood it.

[how to keep]: You have an account with a username and password and it is secure in a way.

[how to spend]: Through this account, like a credit card, the account exists in the mobile through it you use and spend.

PH (Female, 36, graduated, employee): Yes.

[a definition]: It's a kind of digital currency, I don't know where it started, in Japan maybe.

[how it works]: I don't know how it works.

[how to keep it]: I don't know how to keep them.

[how to spend it]: I don't know how to spend them.

FN (Male, 35, employee): Yes, but I don't know anything about it.

MH (Male, 33, graduated, teacher): Yes.

[a definition]: A digital money.

[how it works]: Like the stock market.

[how to keep it]: No

[how to spend it]: Online.

NA (Female, 29, graduated, employee): No.

SF (Male, 27, graduated, employee): Yes.

[a definition]: It is a digital coin.

[how it works]: Digitally, you get an account which you pay through it.

[how to keep]: You keep the money in your account like an email.

[how to spend]: you pay and spend through this account.

MI (Female, 26, graduated, employee): I have heard about bitcoin.

[a definition]: It's digital money, to use in trading, like the market and so.

[how it works]: I don't know how it works, maybe we have to ask the banks the way of usage.

[how to keep]: I don't know how to keep maybe in an account the bank opens for you maybe.

[how to spend]: Can I spend them??

SN (Female, 15, student): Yes.

[a definition]: It's an app where you can transfer money online

[how it works]: You have an account with a certain amount of money. You enter the username of the receiver and the payment and you have done.

[how to keep it]: I don't know.

[how to spend it]: I don't know.

2- Would you trust to use digital money (on your mobile) for daily payments instead of cash or credit card?

KA (Male, 66, retired): No, I don't trust them because I cannot touch or see them to believe.

HN (Female, 63, housewife): No because they are not real, not trustable, intangible this is why I prefer fiat currency.

LA (Female, 42, graduated, employee): No, I don't have trust in them, it's the fear of the unknown things. We need tangible money.

MS (Male, 41, employee): No, I don't trust, I only trust cash, even the credit card I don't trust.

PH (Female, 36, graduated, employee): No trust, it is a weird thing, it is unfamiliar and not used in my country. A tangible currency is the best in my opinion.

FN (Male, 35, employee): Yes for limited websites only.

MH (Male, 33, graduated, teacher): No.

NA (Female, 29, graduated, employee): No, I don't trust using them in Lebanon.

SF (Male, 27, graduated, employee): Yes, in one condition if there is no commission.

MI (Female, 26, graduated, employee): If all the country starts to use them, I guess I can trust them.

SN (Female, 15, student): No.

3- Would you like to keep an amount of global digital money (crypto currency, the same in all the world) instead of national currency (like dollars or lebanese lira)?

KA (Male, 66, retired): No, because here in Lebanon I guess we cannot use so why should I keep them.

HN (Female, 63, housewife): No, because i might not be able to spend them here in Lebanon, so I cannot trust them, they are something strange, unfamiliar. No trust.

LA (Female, 42, graduated, employee): I can try why not. If I understand the system and trust it, maybe later I will replace my fiat by it.

MS (Male, 41, employee): No, cash is everything.

PH (Female, 36, graduated, employee): I will keep them if I can transfer and spend them here.

FN (Male, 35, employee): No.

MH (Male, 33, graduated, teacher): Yes.

NA (Female, 29, graduated, working): Yes, why not I would like to keep.

SF (Male, 27, graduated, working): Yes i would prefer it in a later period, not now in this crisis.

MI (Female, 26, graduated, working): If they are a trusted currency yes I would keep them why not.

SN (Female, 15, student): I would like the existence of a global digital money.

4- Would you like to keep digital money (crypto currency) if this means to be totally independent from Banks, since you can keep, transfer, get, spend money totally by yourself without any kind of external authorization?

KA (Male, 66, retired): No, I don't trust digital money at all, I don't care if they are dependent or independent from banks.

HN (Female, 63, housewife): Yes I would like to have a currency independent from the banks but I don't trust it 100%, I would try but I will keep the national currency because it gives me security.

LA (Female, 42, graduated, employee): Yes, I would prefer it cz I like freedom from banks, I just want trust and freedom.

MS (Male, 41, employee): No, I don't care.

PH (Female, 36, graduated, employee): Yes, I prefer to have an independent currency without any relation with the banks.

FN (Male, 35, employee): No.

MH (Male, 33, graduated, teacher): Yes.

NA (Female, 29, graduated, employee): Yes, but I don't trust them because they are digital so they are insecure but better to be independent from the banks.

SF (Male, 27, graduated, employee): No idea yet.

MI (Female, 26, graduated, employee): It would be nice being banks free, it means we will win our money since the banks take a lot of interest on every operation we do. They take a lot!

SN (Female, 15, student): Yes.
