Ninth in a series of deeply intimate "strange epigrams" for two glass armonicas, exploiting the ethereal qualities of this instrument. Inspired loosely by Stefan George's poem "Dies ist ein Lied für dich allein" ("This is a song for you alone", from George's poem cycle "Der Siebente Ring" ["The Seventh Ring"]), from which the title is derived. Much like the preceding Saraband, this is a study in cantabile melody, albeit more ardent, though in the end dying away inconclusively. The painting in the video is "Night on the Sparrow Hills" by Aleksey Savrasov.
