Fourth in a cycle of aphoristic miniatures for piano. As the title suggests, a "reminiscence" of prior pieces in the set ("...mit Raureif bedeckt..." and Lautenlied), wherein harmonic and melodic ideas reappear in "refracted" guise. Unusually, the miniature begins and ends with an instruction to strum the strings of the piano directly (glissando sulle corde), an extended technique that first arose in the early 20th century. The painting in the video is "Forest" by Mikalojus Konstantinas Ciurlionis.
