Third in a cycle of aphoristic miniatures for piano. A lachrymose yet harmonically sensuous invocation of the Renaissance "lute song", unfolding within a compressed "developmental variation" tripartite formal scheme. The painting in the video is "Lady with a Lute" by Thomas Dewing.
