Numismatics(coin collection) is back on the rise, after several years of decline. There are several important factors that are involved with the sharp increase of interest, in this hobby/investment.
In this post, I will share a couple of the strong reasons why this is occurring now. The first strong reason, is that The United States has begun a program of minting a number of rare coins. One factor, that makes these coins so attractive, is that they are minted in limited numbers! Some are very affordable to purchase, with a high potential of gaining value in the future. Others are more expensive, with an even higher potential to gain value! Among the most valuable, yet still affordable, was the release of a special Enhanced Reverse Proof of the American Silver Eagle! The most valuable of these is the 2019-s enhanced Reverse Proof. I missed the opportunity to purchase a couple of them at a little over $200 each. I just didn't have the money to pursue these beyond the $200. I haven't checked today, but the most recent value on Ebay, for this particular coin, begins at $1500. The Value has Skyrocketed, and the upward potential is phenomenal! These Enhanced Reverse Proofs are the most rare, in all of the American Silver Eagle population! A fact that all Numismatist are aware of is thatt, in general, United States Coins lead the field in most popular and valuable coins in the world market!
Another strong Catalyst, that is driving this strong growth, is the uncertainty of the world economy! As more and more governments print more and more cash, to prop up the glutinous financial institutions, the probability of rampant inflation become larger and larger! In such cases, the wise always shift their assets into Precious metals! Silver, Gold, Platinum, Palladium, and a few others become more and more attractive. In most instances, Coins made of these precious metals present a premium over the prices of bullion alone! Because paper money, and electronic accounts, can loose value overnight, people seek out other forms of currency, that are more solid in retaining or increasing in value. Coins are a form of solid currency, that you can hold in your secured location, and they don't have the tendency to be devalued like paper and electronic money!
Every strongly diversified portfolio has a certain amount of Precious metals, to fall back on should other forms of currency crumble! This may include bullion, Coins, or a mix. As it always has, in the past, become extremely devalued when government's have flooded the economy with paper money, "It isn't worth the paper it is printed on". Even the American paper dollar has lost 95% of its value, since the FED was created! Many other countries have driven their economy into ruin!

Should a hostile government take control of your country's internet, they can easily suspend or take away your electronic assets. That my sound a little far fetched, so, let me share a thought with you. Fbook is trying to push their Libra onto the financial life of their users. Unfortunately, many people may fall for this scam. If you stop and think about it, fbook has a very negative reputation with it's users. They won't hesitate to suspend or delete your account, should you somehow go against their wishes! Rational thought would not support giving them this kind of power over your finances!
I would suggest that it might be wise to purchase, at least a few silver coins, should things get sour, to diversify your financial capabilities. Of Course it is up to you to do your own research!
These factors, among several more, build a very good case for coin collecting, or at least the purchase of some precious metal bullion. Prices are still reasonable and coins come in various weights. Now might be a good time to pick up a little, before prices race off in case of nasty economical weather.
