Sarcasm Saturday #73 - I Choose Education Over Magic Internet Money

Sometimes sarcasm hits better when is pain hidden under a smile! You know the Pagliacci joke? If no... google it... because there are two types of people in crypto!

Those who bought Bitcoin early, held through the madness, and are now posting pictures of their Lambo.. and those who bought Bitcoin early, sold it for a tiny profit!

They waited for a dip that never came, and are now writing articles about their mistakes while farming airdrops to recover their financial dignity.

Guess which team PVM plays for?  That's right. Welcome to the circus. I studied in 2010 instead of mining bitcoin, then I sold 6.7 BTC in 2015 for peanuts!

Give This Man a Medal! Back in 2010, I was studying like every young man! Learning things, getting qualifications, and trying to build a career. The sort of sensible stuff that parents tell you to do.

Meanwhile, somewhere on the internet, Bitcoin was quietly doing its thing. People were mining it on computers, collecting digital coins that most of the world considered completely worthless.

There was no mainstream hype, no army of influencers screaming about the next 100x, and no financial guru selling a course titled How to Become a Bitcoin Millionaire Before Breakfast.

Just nerds, computers, and an idea that most people didn't understand. Imagine spending years learning how the world works when you could have been learning how to make funny internet money.

Nobody had a crystal ball. Bitcoin was experimental, risky, and far from a guaranteed ticket to wealth. It's easy to laugh at the past when you know what happened next.

Fast-forward to 2015. I'd been involved with Bitcoin then and at one point I held 6.7 BTC. Not 0.0067 $BTC ... not a dust balance forgotten in an old wallet.

I had a proper stack and then I did what any highly qualified financial genius would do. I sold it for approximately $1,000 and smiled at a 2x profit!

The plan was flawless, obviously. Take the profit, wait for the market to dump, buy back cheaper, and increase my Bitcoin stack.

I had a strategy and I had confidence... and I had absolutely no idea how much this decision would haunt me. I was waiting for the perfect entry.

Bitcoin, meanwhile, apparently had other plans. The dump I was expecting didn't arrive in the way I imagined, and my masterplan began turn into dust!

I sold it myself, convinced I was smarter than the market, and now I have to work 9-5 to pay bills! Let's take a moment to appreciate how strange the world has become.

In the old days... jobs were jobs. Blacksmiths forged metal. Builders constructed houses. Farmers grew food. Soldiers defended territories.

People worked with their hands, learned trades, and produced things you could actually point at. Then humanity invented computers, the internet, and financial markets that never sleep.

Now we have full-time Web3 contributors, meme traders, NFT flippers, airdrop farmers, Discord moderators, points grinders, and the reply guys!

People who spend twelve hours a day refreshing a leaderboard to earn an allocation worth less than their electricity bill. I'd love to know what he'd think of crypto Twitter?

Somewhere, an ancient blacksmith is looking down at us and wondering how society ended up with a bloke making six figures by posting a frog meme.

Young man, what exactly is your profession? I'm a full-time ecosystem participant, sir. Do you build anything? Sometimes I build reputation!

Can you make a horseshoe? No, but I can bridge USDC across six chains and explain why my points allocation is undervalued. The blacksmith puts down his hammer!

We love pretending that life is a perfectly competitive game in which the hardest worker always wins, the smartest person always gets rewarded, and everyone starts from the same position.

Reality doesn't work like that. Some people are born into wealth, while others start with nothing. Some discover Bitcoin before it becomes famous.

Others spend years studying, working, and building careers before realising that a random digital asset could have outperformed their entire financial plan.

Some people make millions from a meme coin. Others lose their savings chasing the same opportunity. One person sells 6.7 BTC for $1,000 and waits for a better entry.

Another forgets their wallet password and accidentally becomes a long-term holder. There is no universal scoreboard that rewards everyone fairly.

Markets don't care how hard you worked or how many qualifications you have! They don't know your personal circumstances, and they certainly won't reverse a pump!

Life isn't perfectly competitive. Information is unevenly distributed, opportunities appear at different times, and luck plays a bigger role than many people want to admit.

Fairness is a nice principle but isn't a guarantee of the outcome. That doesn't mean effort is pointless... it means effort alone doesn't guarantee success.

You can work hard and lose. You can make a terrible decision and get lucky. You can do everything right and still miss an opportunity because you simply weren't in the right place at the right time.

Still experimenting. Still exploring new ecosystems. Still participating in campaigns, testing platforms, collecting rewards, and trying to rebuild what I missed along the way.

If there's one thing my Bitcoin journey has taught me.. it's that you don't get rewarded simply because you were there early.

You need to make decisions. You need to manage risk. You need to recognise when your own ego is convincing you that you can outsmart a market that has already humbled millions of people.

Don't expect life to be fair. Don't assume the hardest worker automatically wins. Don't confuse luck with genius, and don't make a profitable trade think you're a financial wizard.
