Strike One! OKEx was one of those platforms that didn't look appealing, was full of controversy and bad reviews and with my wicked sense of justice, I had to see if it's all true. I gave OKEx the PVM Trial by Combat, and the result really reflected the bad reviews as their app was considered dangerous and I couldn't download it, the only deposit option was in Chinese Yuan (CNY) by bank transfer, Alipay or WeChat Pay, and of course the suspended withdrawals. It was an even battle until I managed to deliver some heavy blows!
Strike Two! OKEx had some merits as well, as the ultra fast KYC and the $10 Ethereum I received from the Publish0x giveaway. Another interesting aspect was the Learn and Claim Satoshi, a daily mission type of system, that let users earn Bitcoin by watching 5 lessons a day, each taking 60 seconds and rewarding 80 satoshi, claimable once 10,000 satoshi are accumulated. After doing the lessons for 25 days, I reached 10,000, but the claiming was suspended at the time. This task will require 5 minutes a day, over 2 hours in total over the 25 days and will reward users with $0.01328 per minute, resulting $0.7968 per hour of work. Is it worth it, can be something that can be done if you are bored or is a colossal waste of time? For me this experiment sent OKEx to the gallows as it looks like an obvious waste of time as 7 cents per hour is not good enough. OKEx... was nice to meet you!
Strike Three! Let's move fast forward to present days, when an mix of small things made the poor impression transformed into an even poorer one. When I wanted to test Flamingo Vault, my FLM tokens were on Binance and OKEx. I transferred 2.322 FLM tokens from Binance hustle free, and they reached the NeoLine wallet in about 5 minutes. Not the same can be said about the OKEx withdrawal, where the token withdrawal amount must be a full unit. I had to leave some pennies on OKEx because of this silly rule, and on top of that, the tokens reached the NeoLine wallet in 24 hours.
Therefore, instead of transferring 64.16 FLM, I had to transfer 63.5 so the transfer fee of 0.5 FLM will leave an integer. What about the warning that OKEx will reach out if there's any questions about this transaction? I assume they must wonder why people still use them.
After that I was asked to rate the experience ... guess what... not happy!
I've got an email and a text message to inform me that the withdrawal request was processes, which made me believe that the Flamingo tokens will soon reach my wallet. Wrong again... as it took a bit over 24 hours for them to arrive in the NeoLine wallet. Took 16 hours for the withdrawal request to be approved and 8 more for the tokens to arrive. I believe Yodel is quicker than this!
The next step towards abandoning OKEx forever was to send the $10 ETH I received from their giveaway to Celsius, where it can gain some interest. I don't mind the transfer fee but why 0.0004 ETH was left on OKEx when I pressed withdraw all? With the 0.66 FLM from the previous transaction, I now have about $0.35 worth of crypto abandoned in her.
Let's move to the Learn and Earn Satoshi, as finally the withdrawal was open, and I've managed to send 10,000 satoshi to the same Celsius Wallet. This happened on the 30th of November, and the confirmation informed me that the withdraw will be processed within 24 hours.
They were very long hours as this arrived on the 5th of December. Next time please send my satoshi with Royal Mail, as its faster and more secure.
In a strange way, that only a sado-maso could understand, I decided to keep "learning" until I will reach 10,000 satoshi again so will be nothing left in this account before it gets buried in the history of crypto platforms.
Wow! I had a bit of help from a referral as well. With 20,000 satoshi claimed for educating myself in the last 50 days, I feel like a winner.
The transaction was quicker this time, as it took only 2 days. As for OKEx, that's strike three... you're out!
