In a series of Truth Social posts on Sunday, March 2, 2025, President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States will establish a Strategic Crypto Reserve, holding Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), XRP, and Cardano (ADA).
This announcement follows an Executive Order signed on January 23, where Trump directed his President’s Working Group on Digital Asset Markets to explore the feasibility of a national crypto stockpile. While speculation had been brewing for weeks, his latest statement signals that the US government is moving forward with a state-backed digital asset reserve -a move that could have massive implications for crypto adoption and regulation.
Crypto Twitter Reacts - And So Do the Markets

The decision has sparked a fiery debate within the crypto space. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley pushed back, arguing that Bitcoin alone should form the reserve. Meanwhile, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse countered, calling maximalism “the enemy of progress.” The White House’s AI & Crypto Czar, David Sacks, has promised more details at the upcoming Crypto Summit on March 7.
The market, however, wasted no time reacting. Bitcoin surged from $85,207 to $94,537 (+10.9%), while ETH, SOL, XRP, and ADA all posted double-digit gains. Cardano (ADA), the most unexpected inclusion, skyrocketed by 67.7%, jumping from $0.65 to $1.09.
With policy, politics, and markets now colliding, one thing is clear - crypto is no longer a spectator sport in Washington. All eyes are now on the Crypto Summit and the details that could shape the future of digital assets in the US.
