Harar
The city of Harar, Ethiopia has been famous for its coffee since at least the 16th century; it is even rumored by some to be the former home of the legendary goat herder, Kaldi, who discovered the stimulating power of coffee after his goats refused to sleep following a meal of the tasty berries. For centuries, coffees grown in this region of the Eastern Ethiopian highlands have been highly regarded for their bold fruit, wine, berry, and citrus flavors. This deeply complex and ancestral variety remains as one of the eldest continuously cultivated coffee varieties in existence. Harar coffees can be subdivided into three categories: Longberry; Shortberry; and Mocha. As their names may suggest, Longberry cultivars produce the largest beans, while Shortberry cultivars produce smaller ones. Mocha cultivars are especially cherished due to them possessing are what are known as "Peaberry" beans: a distinction made for coffees that produce only one bean per cherry rather than the typical two. The more evenly rounded shape of Peaberry beans is suggested to allow for more even roasting and a more robust flavor profile.

As always, feedback on this project as well as suggestions for future works are always appreciated. Thank you!
