Hi guys,
I'm not a financial advisor, nor I'm an influencer. I just provide information that I think is relevant to me at least.
When I first got introduced to the crypto space, I was told by many that XRP represents the enemy. They support the evil banks that are against people's freedom and prosperity. Boy how things changed in a matter of few hours of reading. The evil XRP didn't seem that evil, and the innocent BTC and ETH and many of the other coins (not all, so I don't insult everybody) didn't seem that innocent.
When I look back at how my own change of heart, I believe it was all about "identifying my priorities correctly".
Why am I in the crypto space and why do I want to own, hodl, or invest in coins?
The quick answer is: I want to gain profits.
The more elaborate answer is: I want to gain profits, while maintaining my freedom and dignity. I want to spend my own money when I want, however I wish, at any amount I want , and I sure want to have plenty of it.
So, can cryptocurrencies do that for me? Yes, they can. Are they better than other forms of "money"? I can't answer that. However, I can say that they provide one thing that other kinds of money don't which is "mobility". I can own physical gold, but it will take an airplane or a car or a ship or feet or a horse to take it from one place to another. This makes cryptocurrencies more delicious to own if I require continued movement of capital. Forget about fiat currencies, they don't even compete with gold or cryptos in my dictionary.
Now, I was looking at different choices. My first set of choices when I came in the crypto space were the ones that my friends were voicing out. I was promising myself to stick to BTC and ETH. I started with them. I then started to notice how suspiciously behind schedule ETH is always at, let alone its fees are extremely high, making it counterproductive to use. BTC on the other hand, it didn't take me much time to understand how environmentally unfriendly it is. So, inside my heart, I was not happy to put my money in things that I don't trust or believe in.
But what other choices did I have? I started to change my strategy. I would only focus on coins that have real utilization. I looked at as many coins as possible. I ended up eliminating most of the coins, and I was left with very few. The list included: XRP, XLM, XMR, VET, ADA, DASH, LITECOIN, Polkadot and CHAINLINK.
The above coins, if they ever do what they promise, would be good candidates for my ultimate coins. This led me to focus on XRP and I was able to figure out that XRP was not the devil. It really cost fractions of a dollar to send any amount from one place to another. It does not hurt the environment. It is not centralized, as many claim. It can be integrated now with the Flare project and provide the smart contract utility to XRP. It is not controlled by any entity, again like many claim. It is manipulated however, but show me a coin or a commodity that is not manipulated. Silver as well as gold are hugely manipulated. XRP is not different from gold and silver, so why do you trash it and call it $|-|!'|' coin while you respect gold and silver? Double standards at best.
XRP has its issues, like the escrow account and the bad reputation among other coins' communities. But if you put all that aside and look at XRP as a coin with a utility, you will be lying to yourself if you can't agree it has its real markets. The above issues can be resolved under enough pressure from the collective community.
The last thing, and maybe the scariest, is that XRP is the phoenix. If you are not familiar with that, I have 2 articles on that. Enjoy the reading and let me know if you wish to have a copy of the original article from "The Economist" that was issued in 1988. I can't find any other coin that could be the phoenix other than XRP at the moment. If you have other choices, please let me know. I link the two articles down below if you're interested.
Conclusion
Look at XRP and compare it with other coins. Study it and don't be influenced by others who may be completely wrong in their analysis or ideas about XRP. It might be worth your time and prove to be the black horse in this crypto space.
Do your research and don't depend on what you hear from friends or some Youtube influencers. You will not give others access to your money, so don't give them control over your choices.
