#11 -Early November Update
November 3rd 2022, by Lucvend
Hey Hunters!
Oh Boy! The last few days and weeks have been a whirlwind! I hope you were able to enjoy the game as much as I did, especially after the let down of how the Cubie Air Event finished. I think the team delivered in terms of demonstrating the best parts of Coin Hunt World.
A recap of my Halloween Event.
First thing to mention, I really like how the sky of the game map turned out. Very dynamic, lightning and great sound! You really had to play in Dark Mode sound on at night to fully experience it. Then I discovered the quest chain, it wasn’t too bad in terms of effort. I already had cubies from last year’s Halloween meaning that I had the option to advance a little quicker when wearing a certain cubie was required. Although I can't pretend I figured out the cauldron spawning mechanic, I think it went well in the sense that I could spawn one relatively easily. Local Montreal CHW players coordinated via our Discord channel for the locations of cauldrons AND we organized a big meetup on Sunday afternoon at our “Cryptopark”. Twelve players met up. We hunted together and managed to spawn around 10 cauldrons including 1 epic and 4 rares. Meeting other players was obviously the best part vowing to coordinate again for Xmas.
The Cryptopark with all the cauldrons we spawned.
So here are my results, I finished the quest chain after my 7th try at an epic cauldron to get the Skeleton BP. RNG was not on my side and I was getting desperate. I wonder if I was the unluckiest player at that point. I also managed to buy in the auction house a White Cubie for 125 blue keys. I also managed to print the pilot cubie I was missing thus allowing me to sacrifice 9 cubbies to get the Ghost BP. This edition of Halloween was much better than last year. However, I think that the number of types of resources we had to collect was a bit too high. On the plus side, I really enjoyed that I had to decide which type of vault I had to open to get a particular resource, adding lots of diversity in play strategy. It was a great event!
On the Adventure Road!!!
We barely finished Halloween with no time to rest and calm ourselves that we now have to get on the Adventure Road! First change that we noticed is the new option to purchase Crystal Keys through the shop. The purchase of Crystal Keys is smooth either via in game crypto or via Google Play fiat. The process works perfectly although I would have appreciated that the purchase window had the currency posted and a notice that applicable taxes will be charged if going with Google Play. Then you have the Adventure Road logo right below the trophy. It is huge, taking lots of space on the screen. It has been suggested to be moved down to the option wheel at lower left, I think it is a great idea.
I like the Adventure Road progress page. It is very simple and clear, with a very useful timer until reset. Seeing the progress bar rather than going to the map is great. I also like that claim tags are popping up when a challenge is completed to validate it. The Adventure Road map is very beautiful showing interesting designs. I only wish that the claims icon would be more visible on the prizes in order to prevent missing them. I also like the diversity of prizes, looking forward to seeing what other months will give away.
Now the challenges. I appreciate that there are different levels of difficulty to complete them. I will not be able to complete all of them. But what is great is that you don’t have to do them all to advance on the road. You can just keep opening vaults as they give Adventure Road Points. I also like the variety of tasks letting you decide which one you can do or not. Here is my tidbit of strategy: When you are able to complete all 3 tasks on the same day, keep opening vaults to get a head start for the next day in case you can't complete the next set of challenges.
Final point on Adventure Road. I purchased the Premium Pass for three reasons: 1- I want to support the game as I believe in the project. 2- Gotta have them all. I fear that we will need to sacrifice Zodiac Cubies next Halloween. And 3- It provides me the bonus of 4 points per vault therefore not forcing me to hunt hard this month. I understand that many believe the rewards are not worth the price. But the stamps themselves and some few resources rewards are worth that much and more in the AH. Finally I used Fiat because I believe crypto will go back up and that the sats and gwei I collected will be worth much more in the future.
Anyway, I think Adventure Road is having a great start and Illusionweaver has said that there are more things to come on that road. Speaking of which…
Meeting with Illusionweaver and Renee.
Yep! Illusionweaver and the charming Renee were doing a layover in Montreal, coming back from Europe heading to Las Vegas. They were gracious in inviting local players to meet up at the Montreal Yellow Vault for a chat. IW graced us with a temporary Sushi Shop and a surprise Resin Tree!!! A handful of us met with them and discussed the game for a while touching on several subjects. We talked about the last few events, trivia, the business model, Adventure Road and other things. Sadly no beans were spilled but he did say tagging is coming along for what he hopes end of month. He believes the game will radically change when structures are implemented and that the monetisation will help them make the game attractive for prospective partners. My girlfriend and I had to leave before the end of the meeting. I had to get back to work… but I had something to do first!
SUSHI!!!!
We walked to the Kyo Japanese Bar nearby, where IW put down the Sushi Shop. I was pleasantly surprised as to how great the interface looks. The design is gorgeous although I would have liked the animation to go longer. The food was excellent and we waited for the 45 minutes to end. We both got the Sushi Chef BP with Nigri. I even managed to push a referral to the waiter. According to him, there were other CHW players in the restaurant. Sadly, having to go back to work, I did not have time to investigate.
Overall, it was an excellent but exhausting two weeks… Still… IW had pulled a quick one on me… We discussed CHW Fest, that my GF and I are planning to attend and talked of VIP passes. I get back home after work to discover that CHW VIP passes are for sale… You didn’t tell me!!! I am nowhere close to have a purple key… so it is going to be a fire sale in the AH!!! Hopefully, there will be more VIP passes available when I get enough for a purple key.
Ok that’s enough. I plan to write a Xmas 2022 primer soon to help you prepare for the best event of the year in my opinion. Until then…
Happy Hunting!!!
