With the COVID-19 situation engulfing the globe, isolating people in their own houses, traveling outdoors is a mere dream.
While corona virus locks us up, I would like to share my travel memories of 2019. This was the year that I traveled the most in a year so far. So many places visited, I cannot even count right now.
Apart from sharing little of what I've explored as a traveler, I am also relishing the bitter sweet memories when I was constantly on the road and reminiscing good old days.
So here are my travel memories of 2019 when everything was normal (haha!):
- Nuwakot
The first travel destination of 2019 was Nuwakot. Nuwakot lies 72 km north of Kathmandu and has a special importance in the history of Nepal as King Prithivi Narayan Shah planned several unification campaigns from this historic town.
Nuwakot Palace, built in pagoda style, seven storeyed Palace is the landmark of Nuwakot.
- Bandipur
Clean cobbled streets and alleyways lined with Newari style houses beautifully and brightly colored, Bandipur is the prime example of how age old architecture and modern facilities can be put together. Bandipur is kinda exotic yet having all the ancient feels. Bandipur is captivating.

- Mardi HImal Trek- Five days of Bliss
Mardi by far was the best place I visited in 2019. Five days of pure nature, pure bliss. The chastity of nature unharmed, hospitable people and walk into the woods, everything was just perfect. The only downside of this trek I would say is the menu on every hotel. The same menu and food items with increased pricing with the increase in elevation.
- Daman - Relax in a Chill Weather Admiring the Unimpeded view of Mountains
Located 80 kms and about 4 hours drive to the southwest of Kathmandu, Daman is perfect the people seeking the ultimate pan Himalayan view. Situated at an altitude of 2400m, this small hill station is the perfect getaway destination during summer to avoid the scorching heat. There is a view tower fitted with long range telescope to feel the Himalayas up close and appreciate it's beauty.
We were here for another reason too. Snow!! Daman is one of the few destinations with shorter distance from Kathmandu to have snowfall experience. And me, being absolutely in love with snow, I couldn't have missed this place.
- Simba Falls - A Hidden Treasure
I came across Simba with one of the videos posted by a brother and I instantly loved it and wanted to go as well. With all the information gathered, we headed for this secluded yet beautiful waterfall in the outskirts of Lalitpur in Manikhel.

The name ‘Simba’ is given by the inhabitants of Manikhel which translates to ‘cold water’ and rightly so, because the water is extremely cold in here.
These are glimpses of what next to come on my traveling days and I look forward to traveling international destination next. Fingers crossed!!
