Elon Musk says X Chat has 'encryption similar to Bitcoin'

Elon Musk once again answered questions about the 'X phone' in the latest episode of the Joe Rogan podcast.

I don't know why, but (fake) news of a potential Elon Musk Pi phone, Tesla phone, X phone have been circulating for a while and they're not real.

It does not exist and possibly never will.

I genuinely don't get why people fall for it all the time. However, Musk did say he wants a new private messaging app, a standalone app like Telegram and WhatsApp.

“On X, we just rebuilt the entire messaging stack into what’s called ‘X Chat,’”  Musk said.

“It’s using a peer-to-peer-based encryption system, kind of similar to Bitcoin. It’s very good encryption; we’re testing it thoroughly.”

Musk also said that the new messaging app won't have 'hooks for advertising'.

Hooks for advertising, according to Musk, means the app 'knows enough about what you’re texting to know what ads to show you'.

So stay tuned for that.
