A real estate investor and reality TV star reminded us of something we tend to forget

In a podcast with Graham Stephan (yep, the guy that used to 'promote' FTX), real estate investor and reality TV star Jason Oppenheim said something simple, but something that's also true, and something that we tend to forget.

Oppenheim said that the whole point of money is that you have to spend it.

This is interesting especially when we remember that Stephan, by his own admission, is pretty stingy.

"I don't need to die with money. Money doesn't do anything sitting in my bank, I am all about spending my money," he said.

And when Stephan challenged him talking about opportunity, Oppenheim's reply was, in my view, right on the money, pardon the pun.

"I think it's giving me more happiness, not more opportunity," he said.

Oppenheim was very transparent, but he has a point.

"I don't really understand how people have money and don't do that. Money is fun coupons, that's what it is."

He also added something else.

"The best 'ROI' I have on money is spending on other people, like things for friends who wouldn't be able to afford it. To me, when you go out for dinner, the person who's least affected by it should pay the bill," he said, which is another interesting perspective.
