The VeChain Foundation announced that the VET buyback address created under the buyback program had been hacked. It was announced that 1.1 billion vets were stolen after the attack.

A statement by the foundation said all transactions associated with the address the attacker sent vets were monitored and contacted exchanges to blacklist. The foundation said it had received assistance from Hacken and vechainstats teams, but also said the incident had been passed on to law enforcement in Singapore.

Before the attack, 1.1 billion vets amounted to about $ 7.3 million. After the attack was announced, there was a 20 per cent drop and the VET price fell to $ 0.0058. After the fall, the value of the stolen vets fell to $ 6.4 million.

The VeChain Foundation had recently announced that it would make a $ 25 million buyback over 12-month periods, with the first purchase being made in July.
