The Cost of Crypto Marketing

We've all seen it happen before... social media influencers promoting some new form of crypto.  Whether the influencer even knows what they are talking about or not, this is always a surefire way to generate hype and publicity.  Even celebrities like Soulja Boy and Floyd Mayweather are jumping on board, and Logan Paul is talking about something new every 5 seconds it seems.  Crypto influencer marketing has even been coined as "protecting the crypto community and keeping it safe", due to the effect it has.

These influencers have massive followings.  The ones mentioned above is just a small list of the vast majority of crypto influencers diving into this market of marketing as well.  We know that influencers love to advertise themselves and anything for a quick buck, but how much do they actually make from this new wave of marketing?

This article will take a dive into the crypto marketing world and attempt to figure out exactly how much these influencers are making off of crypto promoting in the past!  This has been done via research throughout the web and locating which influencers made the most amount of money off of promoting a particular crypto.

What's the point of even launching a new crypto without having some big influencer back it up, am I right?!  Well, kind of!  New cryptos definitely need a push to expose themselves to the market for individuals to snag their own stake.  Given that there are over 9,000 cryptos on the market at the time of writing this article, it can't be as easy as it seems.

The easiest way to gain exposure?  Influencers!  Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, literally any social media platform can be utilized to promote anything... and crypto is a hot commodity nowadays.  Promoting new crypto to a vast audience does not just mean that you can get a quick dollar and get on your way, however.  If an influencer promotes a crypto that turns out to be illegitimate and gets rugged, that influencer can, in return, damage their viewer base.

So how much do they make in return to make this possible risk worth it?  After days of research, it's still honestly hard to pinpoint exactly how much they make.  I did find out that they can make anywhere between $500-$10,000... on the lower end!  This pricing is based off of popularity of the influencer - the more popular you are, the more brand exposure you create, and in return this will equal higher revenue.  I am sure with reports from foundations and even the influencers themselves will give us a more in-depth look at how much these people are actually making just from talking about something that they find interesting.

Influencers are often paid out in fiat currencies or paid out in the crypto they are promoting.  If you take a look into a newer crypto such as MoonShot, they recently had Floyd Mayweather promote their token, roughly a week after Soulja Boy also supported the token on his Twitch livestream.  Floyd "Money" Mayweather has definitely gathered a massive following with his boxing career, and now appears to be looking at other revenue adventures.  Given that Mayweather makes massive, million-dollar deals like it's nothing, I highly doubt he was paid out $10,000 max to promote MoonShot for roughly 8-12 hours.  This is all speculation though, as I do not know the exact cost the token developers paid out.  As of writing this article, the developers have not responded to that inquiry.

Jake Paul and KeemStar, two massive YouTube celebrities/influencers, have been pushing SafeMoon, another token that has just begun and is still gaining popularity.  Jake Paul and KeemStar's tweets pushing this token can be found here and here respectively.  Not to mention the podcasts where SafeMoon is also being promoted as well, this gives the token massive exposure to a potentially untapped market.  These individuals have huge follower counts who might not be well-versed in the crypto world yet.

These untapped markets are not one to be fooled with, as people will literally do and say anything these influencers tell them to do.  There are multiple other influencers out there, not just the popular hype-driven ones on YouTube and Twitter, that definitely have a following of more experienced crypto traders.  As the saying goes, "to each his own."!  Whether you get your crypto source from your crypto foundation's CEO or your favorite vlogger on YouTube, you are still getting a source from somewhere.  You always need to do your own research prior to diving in to one of these start-up tokens, or else you could see some negative ramifications sooner rather than later.

With these influencers having millions upon millions of followers, this market can be used as an army of buying power for the crypto market.  The more popular the influencer, the bigger check (or crypto amount) they will be receiving, easily profiting over millions of dollars in the long haul.  It's up to the developers and communities of cryptos to market themselves, and the social media influencer is their first step in making their tokens shine.  Start-up tokens appear to perform better when they receive a shoutout; almost comparable to the token getting listed on a new exchange.  The value rises tremendously with all the buying power from the community, and then they begin to experience FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt), and then the community will sell-off their stake.  Some have viewed these tokens as pump-and-dump, but those who hold, especially with MoonShot and SafeMoon, are promised greater profits via decreasing supply via burns and static rewards.

Always remember, especially in the trading world... if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is!  Do your own research!
