Hi

You know... I don't want there to be any hard feelings between us, Dan.

When you and ... ah

PUBLISH!!!

Publish were being defaced... I was sitting in Smoljanovic's cage.

Those weren't my original memes

Your post your plan

Do I really look like a guy with a plan?

You know what I am?

I'm a squirrel hiding nuts

I've hidden so many nuts that I just yell at anyone in my vicinity

You know ... I just do things

Hackernoon has plans, the Substackers have plans. Igor's got plans

You know. They're violators. Violators trying to control their little worlds.

I'm not a violator. I try to show the violators... how unjust their attempts to control things really are.

So when I say... ah come here...

When I say that you and your platform was nothing personal...

you'll know that I'm telling the truth.

The Watchmen might be on his shift so this time I will leave nothing open to interpretation. Around October I made pretty distasteful post about Publish it was my usual style of tongue and cheek were I lightly made fun of other authors but dug into the memes about Publish. Some people thought I was punching down. From my perspective I was standing up for the authors that had been banned or restricted but also that post was the censored version for Publish. I didn't just let loose with no regard for anybody. Pro tip if you are going to throw up your burn notice make sure you collect your last cheque first. I have been shadow banned and demonetized since. I have been paying my dues on Publish for years with no notoriety before a few successful posts, in the long before time when you needed $5 USD for a withdrawal in the era of mainnet. My earnings were just numbers on a screen. But in the promised land of milk and honey my optimism was to be crushed.

What did I expect, you can't quit your job and come back next week like nothing happened. I honestly thought I would get banned. I wouldn't cry. I wouldn't make a fuss. I would go quietly into the night far from x. Why was I willing to lose my authorship and access to the platform? There are two faucets that I use as supplementary income: Publish0x and Shakepay. That's cool if your all about earning passive income but I value my time more than my earning potential. Publish in exchange for an hour of my time, I can collect 0.04 USD a day for a $1.20 a month. Shakepay for 5 seconds of my time I can earn 21 satoshis for 7665 sat or 4.55 USD annually. I value both very little. This is not a correlation to Publish0x as a platform but their choice to use Ethereum mainnet for so long. I got used to making maybe two withdrawal yearly and the amounts withdrawn might cover a transaction fee.

I was willing to lose everything because it didn't matter to me at the time but after the consequences it did. A few authors from the community were very gentle they didn't address me directly but pointed to better conduct. Some gave me the silent treatment never to be interacted with again, my para-social relationships in shambles. But to tell you the truth, I had a restless sleep the night I posted it. My conscience was convicting me. I wanted to delete the post the next day but I left it up for my shame. I am not ashamed of the content but more in the way of how I treated the creators of the site. A disregard for their efforts and investments to make this site possible and undermining their governance. My complaints did not justify my conduct. How could I make amends? By continuing to post unfettered content that I was passionate about and just like the graphical user interface of crypto wallets were essential to my journey so was Publish for my growth and knowledge of the industry.

I still have more negative things to say about the platform than positive but let's start with the good. No sleight of hand or round about way of giving harm but as a Platform, Publish is like Wordpress outdated and very basic but that's why I like. It is much easier to curate content here than YouTube. It has core community of authors and readers that have been around since the beta years, some more dedicated than others however it's a cool community. One I was a happy to be apart of. I'm still here lurking in the shadows but I log into my main only to post and occasionally make comments. Why because the incentive is gone no need to collect tips when you can't make a withdrawal. I log into my alt just to change the setting from light to dark, I stare a screen for long periods of time even with blue light protection from screen and glasses I can only take the strain for so long.

The Final Boss

After Direct Denial of Service attack on Publish Cloudfare was instituted to provide Security and Control of the platform. Cloudflare breaks SSL encryption and acts as a man-in-the-middle to see all passwords. And by seeing the bulk of all traffic, they are able to do mass surveillance. When you log into your Publish0x account your digital oil (Usage Data) may include information such as Your Device's Internet Protocol address (e.g. IP address), browser type, browser version, the pages of our Service that You visit, the time and date of Your visit, the time spent on those pages, unique device identifiers and other diagnostic data. Each time you login into Publish a flash cookie is embedded locally to collect and store information about Your preferences or Your activity on our Service. If you haven't read the ToS or Privacy Policy just like any other online service your Data is being harvested and you agreed to this just by using the service. For the privacy conscious I suggest logging into your account through a Virtual Operating system, using a VPN and creating multiple accounts with various browsers for each. If an IP address has not been correlated to a Username, Publish will not allow the use of tipping. To get an idea of the metadata available visit a site like deviceinfo.me

The Six Million Dollar Man

I've heard a user once comment that they would like a feed for all the authors she's subscribe to and I would better describe this feed as a filter. I only want to see content from these specific sources. I need a aggregator for content. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. It refers to files easily read by a computer called XML files that automatically update information. This information is fetched by a user’s RSS feed reader that converts the files and the latest updates from websites into an easy to read format. An RSS feed takes the headlines, summaries, and update notices, and then links back to articles on your favorite website’s page.

This content is distributed in real time, so that the top results on the RSS feed are always the latest published content for a website. An RSS feed allows you to create your own customized eZine of the most up-to-date content for the topics and websites you are interested in.

I tried to create an RSS link for my blog on Publish from the RSS Feed Generator App but Cloudflare doing the great job that it is won't allow it. In my search for alternative most sites have an RSS feed website location or a private blog with have a file that can be downloaded to provide the RSS feed. If each Publish0x author that I wanted to follow had a private blog or substack RSS Feed I could create my filter.

Macroaggressions

In the way back time before Pub became what it is now. Authors could earn real passive income 2 -4 hrs equated to a phenomenal $60 post. Wasn't sustainable so the system was augmented but all that time $5 withdrawal limit meant if you couldn't reach that threshold: the tipping pools were not open to you just numbers to accumulate. What are the maximum $ amount for all the tips combined? 0.03 or 0.04 cents by 90% equals 0.036 to reader and 0.004 to authors. The platform is a faucet and to earn your 0.04 a day you gotta commit an hour of your day. But if the platform's incentive is provide earning income by participation they have been steadily going against this because quality seems to based on the average author striving for the carrot. To the authors who can hack the algorithm earn income that is acceptable compared to reading (minutes) template then this type of content is what will be perpetuated. However this does not apply to all authors, every person has there own reasons for posting content. Maybe in 1 or 2 minute post you might have something interesting to say but my personal filter says no and you will definitely not get a click from me useless I know you.

The site has devolved into a crypto news aggregator, a place for shilling, a stepping stone advertise your content and sometimes too often the same old same crypto content. This is what the site perpetuates and incentivizes cool but not cool, the same thing get stale afterwhile and the nuance is found in the creativity of the author. There are better platforms for authors on alternative sites this can be realize when Publish is an afterthought after initial posting. In my case that is not so, I publish exclusively here because when I like something I stick with it. I'm a little rough around the edges and Publish is like amateur blogging site to refine my craft. Substack and Hackernoon have so many features they are like the new IPhone and Publish is the Nokia phone from the Matrix. All gated communities.

I think if Publish had stuck to their ethos of Crypto Agnostic the grassroots alpha incarnation of Publish could've persisted. Being agnostic would've mean that you wouldn't evaluated cryptocurrencies in USD the far now world currency. Universally BTC would've been a good choice but since your choice was Ethereum then it should've been that. Anyone used of the cycle doesn't need the current oracle update. There has been very little updates since I've been here and each one seems to be like one step forward and two steps backwards. Example; switching to the Optimism Network a great choice for how the platform operates. Getting rid of the explore button and replacing it with WALLS tacky icon not so much. Speaking of tacky the notification of how much money Publish0x has given to users I get is an incentive for new user to adopt the platform but without being an author even 0.50 USD is still a feat for those just starting out. Create a better interface that makes the site easier to navigate like the one that existed before and update your features like without logging in a toggle from light to dark. There is a problem of users who have left the platform for whatever reason, they are the lifeblood of your platform. Value them because they make the platform better.

A private matter is something one doesn't want the whole world to know, but a secret matter is something one doesn't want anybody to know. Privacy is the the power to selectively reveal oneself to the world. Therefore, privacy in an open society requires anonymous transaction systems. An anonymous system empowers individuals to reveal their identity when desired and only when desired; this is the essence of privacy.
