Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Magi of Chaos card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.
Featured Monster: Magi of Chaos
Magi of Chaos is a neutral splinter card that costs 6 mana. It starts with no ability and learns the oppress at level 5. It's stats are decent but it is more of a damage dealer than anything else.
I don't use this card often because I don't have a very good magic set up for my line up. Most of the time, melee or ranged tends to be my preferred lineups due to the damage they can inflict. So this card only comes into play as a damage dealer and it doesn't show up often in my fights.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is standard. This means that there are no restrictions in abilities for the fight. There is also 38 mana available and I am left with the choice of every splinter except for water.
The summoner I choose to use this time is Wizard of Eastwood. In a match like this, I think that removing 2 armor will make it easier for me to kill the opponent and my cards can be played at their highest level.
My plan is just to have Unicorn Mustang tank the hits then have the rest of my lineup do damage to my opponent until I win. I have most of my cards focusing more on the first monster in my opponent's lineup. Child of the Forest is there to snipe down some lower health ranged monsters if it has the chance.
Round 1
At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think this will be an extremely tough fight. It will depend on whether or not I am able to take out my opponent's tank. The good thing about my line up is the snare ability on Mitica Headhunter so it can remove the flying ability and let me hit the tank easier. It's a fight to see who can kill faster.
Round 2
We both traded blows but this fight is pretty hard because my opponent has increased his speed while decreasing mine. I still think I have a chance so long as I take out his front line tan but it's not looking that great for me in this fight.
Round 3
Both me and my opponent has lost two monsters so it is a game of endurance to see who will win this match. The good thing is that I have defeated the speed debuffer so I am on a more even battle field against my opponent.
Round 4
We both traded another monster but I am lucky because I still have some mages left while my opponent does not. So I think I have this match won and my Headhunter is the first card to move.
Since my Headhunter did not miss, I was able to take out the front monsters and finish off my opponent in the upcoming round.
Conclusion
The battle this time around was tougher than I expected. I am just glad that my monsters did not miss and I think a miss from my ranged or melee moster would have spelled a lost to me due to the double heal on his tank. The only good side is the those monsters had fast speed but the speed debuff and speed buff on my opponent's side had me worried.
The -2 armor from Wizard of Eastwood was useful towards killing that tank and it did allow me to place the highest level monsters that I could. On my opponent's side, I feel that their lineup was quite powerful. I was just lucky that the sneak monster did not land a hit on my child of the forest otherwise I would have lost.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
