Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge to share a battle using a specific card and on this week's post it is the Cursed Windeku card. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because you get to try different strategies and earn some crypto in the process.

Featured Monster: Cursed Windeku

Cursed Windeku is a death splinter card that costs 6 mana. It starts with thorns, learns heal at level 5, and slow at level 8. It's a tanky card that is meant to take hits and counter melee monsters. I use it from time to time because I find thorns to be a very useful ability when I fight using death splinters. At worst, it can take quite a few hits before it goes down due to its high health.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is counterspell and taking sides. This means that all monsters reflect magic damage and no neutral monsters can be used. There is also 52 mana available and I am left with the choice of only death splinter.

The summoner I choose to use this time is Contessa L'ament. In a match like this, I think that having the -1 ranged will help a lot because magic monsters are at a disadvantage.

My plan is just to have a lineup using a few tanky monsters up in front. My Cursed Windeku is my main tank with thorns for those melee monsters. I have a backup tank followed by my damage dealers and a taunt monster.

Round 1

At the first glance of my opponent's lineup, I think I have the advantage because of the Taunt monster with flying. My opponent also doesn't have much attack power compared to me and I have a few fast cards.

Round 2

round 2.png

I didn't lose a single monster and I have taken out three monsters on my opponent's side. With his damage left, I don't think I can possibly lose at all.

With all the damage, I had left, I wiped out my opponent and finished off the match.

Conclusion

The battle this time around went exactly as I expected. The lineup I went for had the taunt monster tank most of the damage while the rest quickly finished off my opponent's enemy. It's too bad that thorns weren't as useful in this match but if my opponent did decide to use a more melee-focused setup, then I still wouldn't have any issues.

The -2 ranged attack from Contessa L'ament was useful but it also allowed me to place the highest-level monsters that I could. On my opponent's side, I feel that my opponent did not take advantage of the maximum mana available because there had to be higher mana cards that he could use. However, I noticed that his team all costs 4 mana or less. So I wonder if it was just a bot and he did not know how to adapt to counterspell or not.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
