Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge that can be found in this week's post. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because they get to learn about the game. In this week's challenge, we talk about a last-second win that I got due to luck.

Rule Set, Battle, and Plan

The ruleset this time is Going the Distance, Aimless, and Silenced Summoners. This means that only monsters with ranged attack can be used, archons/summoners lost their bonus effects, and all monsters gain the scattershot ability. There is also 21 mana available, and I can use fire or earth splinter. 

I use Brewmaster Abraxas as my summoner because it has the highest level of my gold foil summoners, low mana cost, and allows me to use both fire and earth splinters. Quilliun Legionary is my tank with close range and thorns. Fungus Flinger is my backup tank with martyr. Barking Spider also works as another backup tank due to its high health and low mana cost. Sarius is my last monster for its low mana cost and bloodlust ability.

My strategy is to use Brewmaster Abraxas because of duo fire/earth summoning ability, and its low mana cost. It is perfect for this ruleset since extra abilities would be negated anyways. Quilliun Legionary works well as a tank and if my opponent uses a duo melee and ranged monster, the thorns can hurt it. Since this match has aimless, I have Fungus Flinger in my 2nd spot because if it dies, it can buff up my tank and barking spider. Barking Spider is another monster I used due to its decently high health and the aimless ruleset. Sarius is a low mana damage dealer and it can get quite strong if that bloodlust stacks.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that this match can go either way, My opponent has a slight advantage in terms of card levels, but we have roughly the same damage on both sides. It will just depend on what happens in the fight. We are using similar strategies with martyr to buff up the tank if it gets killed.

Round 3

Both my opponent and I have taken quite a bit of damage. This match could still go either way and I am down one monster. None of us were lucky as we did not focus down monsters, and I think this match will go to whoever kills off the tank first. My opponent gets the first move so it is quite dangerous for me.

I ended up winning this match a few rounds later as I expected. I was lucky that Sarius was targeted as this gave me a chance to take out my opponent's tank and secure the win.

Conclusion

The battle this time did play out as I expected. I focused on using ranged monsters, and I had some decent health monsters or abilities in the backline as insurance against the ruleset. In the end, my opponent also had a similar lineup, but I managed to secure the win by a narrow margin. If one of my opponents had attacked a different mob, I would have lost this fight. You never know what will happen in fights, and who knows if you get lucky. I knew that I was at a slight disadvantage going into this fight, but I wasn't expecting it to be this close.
