What we call trash

What we call trash

Ever throw something away which you later regret? I get that when we get older, move to another home, replace older things for new items like when technology advances, throwing stuff away is rather normal.

It's either that or become some sort of hoarder. Why keep those old football cards from players who are all old and gray now? No one listens to cassette tapes anymore right? Who doesn't want the better and more clear sound quality which digital/mp3 files offer?

But then there's things like old pick-ups/turntable vinyl record players that are still sought after till this very day. Most younger generations would label this as trash without even giving it a second look. And that's exactly how older generations would treat things like Jurassic Park cards. I guess that's where the saying "one man's trash is another man's treasure" comes from. So I threw most of these things away and if it somehow became someone's treasure then good for them.

But you know what is treasure to all generations? Bitcoin. Yeah, sometimes there's things you throw away or be careless with and lose, which later on turn out be worth a fortune. It is estimated that almost one million Bitcoins have been lost that way. But that is rather obvious since it's about monetary value. Who doesn't regret losing that in any way?

No this topic is more about items which are irreplaceable and have a priceless personal value to us, yet sometimes we throw these things away or are careless with them only to regret it many years later.

I really regret not saving some older photos better. For most of them I have no idea how I even lost them. Some were printed out in old fashion albums, others were digital which I mostly lost in my first lesson in decentralization: Never store files in one centralized place.

But the item I miss the most is my wing chun wooden dummy.

Mannn, this thing was my entire home gym for 7 years. It was diabolical trying to find it at an affordable price and then mount it to the wall, but worth every last cent and effort. Now obviously I didn't throw this away or lose it. I had to give it up because I moved rather far away and had to sell it.

Apart from that I actually managed to preserve a lot of old things I care about rather well. I still have my favorite football shirt from the 1999/2000 season which I sometimes even still wear.

It's funny, thinking about that old walkman now I realize I must have had at least 5 other music devices after that, before using your phone as your music player became the norm. But apart from the last one (an mp4 player which I actually still have as well lol) I can't remember any of them.

Things are almost never as they seem. If you sincerely think that world powers would spend their money and resources in order to just "help" citizens from foreign nations, you might want to ask yourself why they've been neglecting and out right murdering their own citizens for decades. What are their true motives for wanting to fund foreign (terror) groups, start global confrontations and wars? I'll let you in on a little secret; It has NOTHING to do with "human rights" nor "democracy".
