The World Is Yours, Yet Love Owns the Heart

A Long Romantic and Mystical Poem

I wrote into your gaze, “What makes you glad with me?
The world belongs to you, yet love has claimed my heart.”

Tell me, you hidden mystery, what did you see in me?
Why does my restless soul still wander, seeking who I am?

Perhaps you saw a grain of hope within my weary eyes,
A voice that speaks in silence, where a thousand feelings rise.

I saw you in the heavens, I saw you in the deep,
I saw you in a raindrop, where oceans dream and sleep.

I found you in the rainfall, in the night's unspoken cries,
I found you in a flower that from ashes learns to rise.

The world is filled with your light, time overflows with your name,
Yet the heart that falls in love transcends the world's acclaim.

What use is owning all the earth if love has left the soul?
What worth is any throne or crown if hearts are not made whole?

If you possess a hundred palaces, a hundred skies above,
One glance bestowed with tenderness outweighs the wealth of love.

I ask no world from destiny, no kingdom for my own,
Just one quiet breath beside you, where my heart feels known.

I seek no crown of glory, no treasure, gold, or fame;
The happiest moment is when love remembers me by name.

And if one day the dust of sorrow settles on my way,
Your memory will be the lamp that guides me toward tomorrow's day.

You asked me who I really am; what truth could I proclaim?
Whenever you appear before me, I forget my former name.

I am a wave that searches seas for somewhere to belong;
You are the boundless ocean, holding every drop of song.

I am the earth, concealing secrets underneath its silent skin;
You are the rain that wakes a thousand gardens deep within.

If someone asks me what love means, in just a single line,
I'll say: the silence filled with words, where souls and stars align.

Not every smile is happiness, not every meeting fate;
Some eyes contain a universe where loneliness must wait.

But eyes that feel another's grief and carry it inside
Can open doors to heaven where the wounded soul may hide.

I asked the mirror why my heart was restless, wild, and torn;
It answered, “Love has entered you, and now your soul is ocean-born.”

What do you know of storms that hide inside another's chest?
What do you know of stories where the silence will not rest?

Some wear a smile upon their lips while ruins fill their heart;
Some seem to stand in perfect peace, yet inwardly fall apart.

If someone reaches out to you, with hope held in their hand,
Do not dismiss their fragile trust; you may be where their last hopes stand.

If you should see a soul alone, forgotten in a corner,
Sit beside them for a while; your kindness may restore them.

For human greatness does not live in swords or royal power,
Nor does a noble name survive through gold's most splendid hour.

Only love that rises from the soul and settles in another's heart
Will live beyond the body's end, when all the worlds depart.

How many own the world itself, yet feel alone at night,
With all their wealth around them and no warmth to make things right.

How many have no land or gold, no treasures to their name,
Yet keep a world of beauty in a humble home aflame.

From this, I learned where value lies, what makes a life worth living:
Not merely what we take from life, but what we leave by giving.

If you give without a name, and no applause is ever heard,
Know that nameless love can shine far brighter than the finest word.

If someone's pain can make your heart tremble in the night,
That trembling is a sign your soul still knows compassion's light.

If you reach a hand to help another in the darkest hour,
That kindness may become tomorrow's lamp, a quiet, lasting power.

I searched from my beginning for the face of what is true;
I never knew the thing I sought was living deep inside me, too.

I thought I'd have to travel to the edges of the sky,
Never knowing God was nearer than the dreams that passed me by.

When I forgave another from the deepest of my heart,
When I understood that human flaws are where our stories start,

When I gave without expecting any profit in return,
I found a door beyond the sums by which the world must learn.

You may discover God in mountains and the heavens vast,
Yet sometimes God is nearest in the hearts we meet and pass.

If a flower blooms among the stones without a word of pride,
It seems the earth itself has found a song it cannot hide.

What secret sleeps beneath the soil, within a seed so small,
That thousands of branches rise to answer spring's sweet call?

Why does the night, with all its darkness, never reign forever?
Perhaps the sun is being born where shadows gather together.

Why do flowers bloom again when winter leaves the land?
Perhaps hope lives in silent roots no eye can understand.

From every falling leaf I learned that falling is not the end;
Sometimes we must release the past before new roots can mend.

From every wave I learned the sea is greater than it seems,
Yet every drop helps shape its shores and carries part of dreams.

If one drop joins the sea, is it lost, or does it become the whole?
In love, is there a boundary between the sea and the soul?

You are a drop, and I am one; from drops the oceans rise,
And every wave can bear the strength of seas beneath the skies.

Let not the waves of anger tear the homes that love has made;
One moment born of pride can leave a thousand dreams betrayed.

Let not a careless word become a wound that years cannot erase;
The wounds of flesh may heal, while heartache leaves a hidden trace.

Come, Love, and guide these wandering hearts along your gentle way;
The road of love is not a road where separation has the final say.

It does not mean we never err, or never feel the pain;
It means that even through the storm, our kindness can remain.

It means that when a person falls, we offer them a hand,
Instead of speaking from above as though we understand.

It means that when someone stumbles through the darkness of their mind,
We choose the lamp of understanding, not the fire of being unkind.

It means sometimes releasing what we think we have a right to claim,
When something greater, peace and love, would heal a household's pain.

Yet love does not demand that you should smile through every scar,
Nor sacrifice your dignity to please whoever you are.

Compassion needs its boundaries; devotion needs respect;
A living love is one where both can breathe and reconnect.

Along this road, I came to see what loving truly means:
It is not what we say aloud, but what our conduct reveals.

If one day they ask me what I gained from all my years,
I'll say: the love I left in hearts, the comfort through their tears.

Not merely poems that I wrote, nor names that time preserves,
But words that reach a weary soul when life has lost its nerve.

If one day I am gone, and all my songs fall silent too,
May what remains be kindness in the hearts I once walked through.

You, companion of this dream, if ever you should call,
Read what lives between my words, beyond the rise and fall.

Search for me within my poems, not merely in their sound,
For sometimes a poet's soul is where no spoken words are found.

Read that first line once again, where I asked your gaze to tell
Why you were pleased to walk with me, beneath love's hidden spell.

For in that simple question, countless secrets still remain,
And all the words I have not said flow softly through its refrain.

I wrote into your gaze, “What makes you glad with me?
The world belongs to you, yet love has claimed my heart.”

And now, in silence, I can hear the answer in my soul:
The world may be possessed, but love alone can make us whole.

If love should leave this world, its colors would grow dim;
If kindness left the human heart, all victories would grow thin.

So stay, O Love, the lantern burning deep within our soul;
Remain until the scattered parts of humankind grow whole.

Remain until our hands reach out, not to fight, but to unite;
Remain until old wounds are given time and care to heal aright.

Remain so no one feels alone when sorrow fills their days,
As though this boundless world had taken every hope away.

Remain so every heart may know, through loneliness and fear,
That even in the darkest night, a dawn is drawing near.

And every time I write again, I'll tell this truth once more:
However beautiful the world, without love it remains unfinished, evermore.

I wrote into your gaze, “What makes you glad with me?
The world belongs to you, yet love has claimed my heart.”
