When Youtube slaps you, do you slap back, turn the other cheek, or turn your back and leave?

Following on twitter some influential crypto people around the world for moths and even years, I read almost daily for a few days recently, about such content creators of the great giant and famous video uploading/streaming platform, named Youtube, that are being censored and their videos being removed due to violating terms of such targeted pieces of content.

Of course that such terms that they are pointing towards are quite general and they don't give you too much reasons for doing that, but they didn't asked too many questions when filling bank accounts of such youtubers as well, when monetizing their videos. The first that got me the attention towards the situation was Chris Dunn with this tweet right here, two days ago.

I am following him on twitter for quite a while and I remember being one of the first crypto dudes that I subscribed to on youtube back in 2017. I liked his analysis, which are rarely about charts, lines and draws, and his investing mentality seems to be a healthy one. Youtube though, has had other type of feelings regarding him recently, deleting most of his videos, which I assume is a painful experience for such a guy, that was pretty dedicated in educating people about crypto, for free...

I don't remember him shilling scam projects and honestly he is one of the few, from many, that I still follow from 2017 till date. The post is not about this guy though, it was just an example that are currently inside the purging fire of youtube. The post is about the good and the bad about the situation. Yes, you can already hate me for that, but there is a good part in this as well.

So, let's start with what I consider good about this thing. Remember Bitcccccoooonnneeeeccccttttt? Yeah? Me too, it was one of the most profitable crypto projects for the scammers involved, in 2017, and one that got many people to lose their money by buying this shit. Well, some are on a loss with serious crypto projects as well, but at least a good healthy one has chance to recover. That garbage, never.

Hence, youtube removing crypto related videos might save some people from getting tricked into investing in such dump holes in the future. I know that it does it wrong by bulk removing videos, but I guess this is a part of the maturing process of the platform, that has just started. Probably, as more and more are protesting against it, things will change and they will filter what there is to be removed and what not. Remember that youtube is not a decentralized platform so they can basically do whatever they wish.

Yeah, I know it's not much and it makes some creators suffer, but this agenda might save some dummies, good money, by not being tricked into crypto scams. I don't believe it will last forever though. It has some more sweet flavored ingredients to it though, and that is benefiting Steem for example. Simple to figure out why. Some of the frustrated crypto dudes might not eat from the red apple anymore and claim some accounts in here, if they haven't already... They might buy some Steem on the way, and they might tell about us to other people on other social media platforms that they're active currently on.

A win-win situation, with the current pain and suffering for the poor youtubers of course.

Let's move towards the bad of this bloody campaign shall we, which in my opinion is, cutting down the cords of information regarding cryptocurrency and blockchain between some enlightened figures on youtube and the general public, public that might stumble upon such videos and learn something about this revolutionary tech. People like me for example, that learned about crypto from youtube, and learned how to use Steem by watching youtube videos. Yeah, sadly this cleaning process comes at the cost of potential future crypto investors, or at least enthusiasts and why not future users.

Do I believe that this is some government orchestrated shit to fight against crypto? NO, I don't believe that, because I don't think governments are fighting it. They're just fucking/regulating it, to use it and control it like they do with pretty much everything, or at least try that... However, I with my little eye, see why youtube has done all this. To keep themselves clean in case of any type of trial that might involve promoted crypto scams on their platform and people loosing their money.

As an analogy, have a look at McDonalds. They make bad food, tons of other fast foods make bad food all over the world, for your health of course, but they got sued because they have tons of money to pay the ones suing them. Not some cheap fast food at a street's corner got to famous trials. Youtube, in my opinion, simply wants to avoid that and keep itself clean from such situations. Plus, it has the tools and power to do that. There's no freedom of speech guaranteed there, from what I know, but there are terms and conditions that are always in their favor, not yours. That's why it's free, that's why facebook is free...and twitter.

Free stuff nowadays comes at a cost..., but some people don't see it from that perspective. They just considered it a given and claim rights on it that they didn't had right from the beginning.

Those guys might just accept that, and start making video games themed videos that hopefully won't get removed, or cat themed ones...or join Steem. We have free speech in here, they will for sure be appreciated and upvoted by tons of people for their content, especially knowing that the guys are famous and life continues in sweet violin tunes. They might as well search for other free and open platforms, if Steem is not appealing like publish0x for example, or book a meeting with lord youtube and figure out a solution for the problem. That's how I see all this Christmas youtube censoring campaign.

So... slap back, turn the other cheek or turn your back and leave?

Thanks for attention,
