Sky's Not The Limit For Bitcoin, Burgers Are...

Owning cryptocurrencies in 2020 is not much of a big deal anymore, although about only 1% of the population of our beautiful planet is in that situation. Paying with crypto though could be seen as a rarity and not too many of us are inclined to do that. You don't even have too many things that you can buy using crypto, no matter where you are in the world.

There are high chances that you have heard about Venezuela's economical problems and huge inflationary levels and how Bitcoin and other cryptos have become a real safe haven for the Venezuelans. For a country that has immense inflation and price fluctuations, that witnesses its native currency getting trashed daily, owning cryptocurrencies is not just a speculative strategy but a way of really holding your wealth.

Besides just simply converting cryptocurrencies into fiat to buy groceries and whatever people might need for a living, you can now eat at Burger King in Venezuela and pay your burgers with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, BNB, Dash and USDT, according to a recent news report. There are 40 Burger King locations in Venezuela and one of them is now accepting payments in crypto. Dash seems to be the most loved one from them all, by the Venezuelans.

In my country however, at least in the area where I live, nobody accepts crypto payments for anything. Well, I had a friend that was renting ATVs a few years ago, and he would accept Bitcoin payments, but I wouldn't have to pay for them because they were in my garage so no need for any payment. Just the usual can I?..., and that was it.

Even if there would be a crypto payment system in here for stuff that I need on a daily basis, or even casual things that I buy sometimes, I wouldn't pay with cryptocurrencies. Maybe with USDT but would not use any other. If I start to think a bit in regards of USDT I would probably won't use it either. Why?

Because paying for a burger with crypto would mean that I would have to pay with an asset, and I would never do that, especially considering that cryptos are my first invested in assets and that I am so attached to them, having some financial plans tied to them, plans that would get decimated when constantly using crypto for just living. Paying with USDT on the other hand would mean I should use a bank account to buy it from an exchange, then use it a paying service where there would for sure be some fees involved and so on, therefore paying with crypto, right now right here, is definitely not an option for me.

Supposing that in the near future I will have such an option to buy things with crypto in my area I would only do that if I would have no money left to buy my necessities wit. Lets say, only a desperate situation would make me spend any crypto that I own. I would happily change my view 180 degrees, if I were to earn my living only in cryptocurrencies, and not traditional money. Otherwise not, and even then, I would exchange small portions to USDT and use the damn stable coins. Not selling cheap alts to anyone, they don't fool me.

Now, getting to a sarcastic tone I will say I bet that even the most famous ones eating dust for years about mass adoption of crypto, and that it was designed as a payment system, don't actually pay for anything with cryptocurrencies and that they still rely on bank accounts and cash. They found an audience where to spit their repetitive ideas and fanatic views, hiding behind cartoon and meme faces on social media. Have you seen any of them at least buying a car with crypto recently, or a fucking banana? Not in 2017, of course, when it was all that madness and some showed of by buying Lambos. No, real life daily shopping.

The thought of cryptos becoming real life money is far from me although I don't think it's impossible. At some point, I believe some sort of national digital currencies, or why not even international ones, will be emitted and released to the public while being widely accepted as the replacements for traditional fiat. Not in the near future, and definitely not Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dash, Litecoin...etc etc. These will still remain as assets and people would swing trade them for the stable ones.

In countries such as Venezuela where the situation asks for such financial strategies you simply don't have an alternative, thinking that the amount of Bolivars you are able to buy your bread for the day might not buy you even half of it tomorrow. Again, that's a desperate situation in which I would use cryptos as well, but not if I'd had alternatives.

The time for cryptocurrencies becoming real life money hasn't come yet and what will become a reality, after quite a few years, I think will only be the tech/concept and not the coins we currently hold. Moreover, I find annoying that people on social media praise for so many years the idea that Bitcoin will replace money and that they're blessed to have heard about it and use it, but not once have I seen any proving that he lives on crypto. Or at least make some vlog showing us, the neanderthal fiat users, how it feels to live on crypto.

Yes, some in here(Steem), are fortunate enough to be able to sustain some percentage of their living with the Steem earned, considering that they live in very poor countries, and I am happy for them, but generally Bitcoin is far far away from becoming a world wide accepted payment system. I doubt it will ever be, and some might get mad at me for being such a contrarian, but that's how I see things evolving. It's still an asset, and it will be as such for decades to follow, despite some using it, out of desperate situations, for buying food. For 99.9% of us is still a money making machine, or money loosing machine depending on the case, otherwise we wouldn't check crypto prices that often.

You don't check your national currency parity with the dollar or euro that often as you do with Bitcoin, and that's the simplest argument that one can use for Bitcoin not being money...yet, although intended by Satoshi Nakamoto. When everybody around the world, or at least most of us, will earn a living in crypto then we will call it money. At least according to my view. I am open for your contradicting topic related points of view and arguments, I love them...

Thanks for attention,
Adrian
