Today I watched a YouTube video where a guy was explaining why video games started falling off and to be honest I don't think games have gotten worse. I think the issue is that admist a time where gaming was becoming main stream around 2019, the desire fore more single player experiences were replaced by the desire for multiplayer games to fit those people who craved contact with other people. A great single player experience could have still been had if they had been thought out, alot of your indie games still exist, triple A games were still being released . Now that the effects left from 2019 are finally starting to dwindle in some capacity and physical connection is now promoted again, I see alot more companies going back to the way of creating single player experiences.
On the topic relating to how games don't ship complete and instead require downloadable content, there's very few instances in games I can even name where that is the case, the issue is rushing publishers and developers to push out a game they've been working on for however many years because the hype is already built up will guarantee it sells. You saw it with cyberpunk 2077 where it was in development for so long it couldn't have done anything other than make bank. Especially with the names attached to it. Of course it had a terrible release because the game just wasn't ready but the game eventually was finished and updated free of charge.
While I do think gaming has changed in some aspects I don't think it ever got worse
While I would perfer if the game drops with a good launch thats hardly ever the fault of the developers.
