An XRPL sidechain that is seamlessly compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine is launched on devnet. Why is this important? Payment decacorn Ripple presents its latest development: a sidechain designed to connect the Ethereum (ETH) and XRP ledgers – based on the eXRP asset.
Ripple unveils testnet EVM-compatible XRPL sidechain
According to an official statement from RippleX, a development studio focused on blockchain solutions for the XRP ledger, testing activities for an Ethereum-compatible XRPL sidechain have begun. The project is developed and maintained by the Barcelona-based Web3 engineering team Peersyst. EVM-compatible sidechains are now available on the XRPL development network. For experiments, the XRPL devnet is accessible through the XUMM non-custodial wallet, while EVM-compatible sidechains are used with MetaMask. Therefore, XRP assets can be transferred from the XRPL devnet to the new sidechain (as eXRP) and back.
Ethereum dApp goes live on XRPL
During the first beta phase, developers can deploy existing Solidity dApps (Ethereum software programs) on the new sidechain and access the XRPL Devnet user base. Thanks to the Ripple/Peersyst partnership, Ethereum-focused developers can build on the low-cost and fast XRP ledger blockchain known for its enthusiastic community. Over the next few months, developers will launch a fully permissionless EVM public sidechain and a non-custodial bridge to the XRP Ledger mainnet.
XRP Ledger, Ethereum nodes by GetBlock: Best of both worlds
Ethereum and XRP Ledger nodes are one of the most popular BaaS infrastructure stacks offered by GetBlock. We connect clients to shared and dedicated nodes on both blockchains. In addition to the mainnet, GetBlock also provides API endpoints from the XRP Ledger and the Ethereum testnet. High-performance dApp teams are also able to enhance their protocols with cheap and fast connections to dedicated Ethereum and XRP Ledger nodes.
