The Guardian tries and fails at the "Bitcoin bad because energy" propaganda angle

OK right off the bat, I'm not "one of those" who thinks pollution or our environment is something to be taken for granted and that Musk will whisk us all away to Mars if we destroy it all here, but if you by now, 27 April 2023 don't know or flat out fail to mention that the artist behind the "skull of Satoshi" kind of admitted he was wrong and that Bitcoin and it's Pow energy usage is not as simple as he thought, you have no business writing about either one. I want to highlight this part here from the article"The solution, Greenpeace argues, is simple: change the computer code.", and then immediately destroy the entire basis along with their credibility by citing Von Wong's own statement:

"I had just spent 6 months pouring my heart and soul into building an amazing installation to inspire real change for something few seemed to care about. Then, Bitcoin Twitter noticed the #SkullOfSatoshi...the piece was..optimistic hope that Bitcoin could shift away from the needless burning of fossil fuels without losing all the other features that make Bitcoin safe, secure, and decentralized...I made the Skull believing that Bitcoin Mining was a simple black-and-white issue. I’ve spent my entire career trying to reduce real-world physical waste, and PoW felt intuitively wasteful. Of course, I was wrong. Few things in the world are black and white. Dumb me."

Well, that's certainly a major contradiction which certainly needs addressing right? Wrong! Because it didn't stop The Guardian from making a total a** of themselves and publish this just mere hours ago without any mention whatsoever about Von Wong's admissions from over a month ago.

"The “Skull of Satoshi”... is composed almost entirely of computer circuit boards and fitted with tall smokestacks usually found atop coal power plants...The artifact is a project of artist Benjamin Von Wong and is a reference to the massive amounts of carbon emitted from mining the cryptocurrency bitcoin..what worries environmentalists and others is the huge amount of electricity used in generating bitcoin and other such currencies – energy that often traces back to fossil fuels and so has a corresponding impact on the climate crisis."

Notice the name "Rolf Skar, campaign director at Greenpeace USA" in the article? Yeah because environmentalists in the United States do not have any other possible climate target or environmental worries regarding their own country which is literally over polluting the entire world, and thus have to set their sight on Bitcoin. Way to kill you own credibility there Greenpeace US.🤡 I couldn't care less how often I have to repeat myself, if these people keep spewing out sheer nonsense and one-sided stories, I'll counter them with the same old facts so get comfy:

The US military pollutes the planet more than literally 100 countries do combined.

Here's just a short summary of the US' tech industry: "Microsoft is opening new data centres in Europe on top of the already existing ones...can actually cause drinking water shortages...Did you know that merely owning a GMail account pollutes our world already? It needlessly emits 1200g CO2 per year. You know how much you pollute the world by owning unused Bitcoin wallets? Nada! "making a Google search emits .2g of CO2, watching a YouTube video for only 10 minutes emits 1g of CO2, and simply owning a Gmail account for a year emits 1200g of CO2"

Here's their banking system with it's 1.97 billion tons of carbon dioxide, which if it were a country, would rank them in the top 5 in terms of emission. Spoiler; the United States itself is the number one emitter of carbon dioxide with a staggering +500 billion tonnes emitted since 1850. To put to perspective how ludicrously massive that is, China, the 2nd largest emitter has less than 300 billion tonnes on it's name. But hey, these are no facts and stats our mans Rolf needs to address or prioritize for raising awareness, he's from Greenpeace US so unfortunately these things are worlds away from his Greenpeace branch and thus out of his sphere of influence. Bitcoin however is right around the corner from his office which he therefore must make a top priority in order to save our world.😜

Things are almost never as they seem. If you sincerely think that world powers would spend their money and resources in order to just "help" citizens from foreign nations, you might want to ask yourself why they've been neglecting and out right murdering their own citizens for decades. What are their true motives for wanting to fund foreign (terror) groups, start global confrontations and wars? I'll let you in on a little secret; It has NOTHING to do with "human rights" nor "democracy".
