Did you ever have those days where everything you did was wrong? And I do mean everything, like doubting between two multiple choice answers on exams and picking the wrong one, to buying crypto and then watch it crash a few minutes later, all the way to degen gambling and losing every single bet.
I saw many days like that and in the past, I stubbornly kept pushing it trying to forcefully reshape my fortune. I'm old enough to know that rarely works. I mean it might occasionally, but when you're on such a bad run after three or four wrong decisions, it might be a better idea to just quit while you're behind before you go berserk and lose it all.
I remember one particular time in 2019, I was tired of watching Bitcoin go down by -5% and take all alts down with it for -15%. I said to myself I would sell all my holdings of one particular coin and put it all in Bitcoin to help mitigate the losses and then buy it back with some free extra Bitcoin to spare. The coin in question was VeChain and I distinctly remember that the moment before I sold my VeChain I checked on all relevant accounts for possible ground breaking developments. There were none so I made the trade and stepped away from the PC for about 15 minutes. When I came back I went to check the charts and suddenly saw a familiar logo in the top gainers. There was VeChain with I think it was a 20% profit in 1 hour. That profit accelerated for about 30 hours straight because right after I sold, and I think it was literally by the minute, Sunny Lu made this statement about partnering with Walmart on food safety tracking.

But that was just one example, I truly hate gambling and the entire environment of casinos, but back in the day I wasted quite a bit of time at the poker tables. I quit doing that 2 years ago, it's just a waste of time and in the end you might grind a bit here and there, but you can spend that time on much more productive things IMO. But about 5 years ago one particular night I was so destined to lose, I literally tried to avoid it by making insane hero folds and it actually worked for a while, but in the end it still got me.
I had some really bad losses in like 1 hour, so on this next buy in I decided to try and wait the bad run out. This next example happened literally three times afterwards. I don't remember all the cards exactly, but al three times I had a suited hand and could not see the flop because of this fear. I folded to any raise and on 2 occasions would have flopped like a 10 or 8 high flush, on the other occasion the flush came in on the turn. I was so annoyed I folded at first but by the river, the fourth suit just kept coming. Every, single, time.
It was truly unbelievable. On each occasion my medium flush would have been cancelled by a four card flush with someone holding the ace or queen.

After the third time I was both annoyed and optimistic as I thought I'd beat destiny and I could somehow walk away with a W. So a few hands later I could see a flop for a rather low bet in position. I called and flopped a straight.

"OK this is working" he foolishly thought. I think the person before me raised and I went all in, then someone called and we were heads up and the board bricked out. No flush possibility, no paired board, nothing. He then showed this:

Yup, lost everything along with 3 hours time. Could've just saved both if I'd just walked away and accepted today was not my day. But what's the moral of this story? Just give up. Never fight back and be afraid of trying? I think the answer lies somewhere in the middle. You can't just think you're on a bad run after just one or two misfortunes. But after a while a pattern should emerge and it would be wise to rethink your next step and possibly take that step on another day.
But what if it's not only you? Like this one time me and some friends played cards for stupid challenges. Whoever lost had to do stupid tasks like drink soy sauce straight up or act a fool in public. Back in the day we usually met once a week and this one time I was losing each damn game. I racked up like 3 tasks in 1 hour and knew what kind of day it was. At the third time I even changed seats with someone to get a different hand and still lost. So what did I do? Can't just quit and leave everyone hanging right? No but you can waste time as much as possible.😂 I tried everything, food breaks, over shuffling, taking too much time to think and at the end, I "only" lost 5 times with 2 losses going to 2 others.
I actually think I wasted so much time that the losing destiny had expired and that's why others started losing.😂
