Here are some real life examples why you NEVER put all your eggs in one basket

Many of us already know why, some don't or may be new to investing, and some might have already forgotten how past "revolutionary better than Bitcoin" cryptos disappeared into the abyss. So for the sake of us all, let's name some projects that were actually legit and no rug pull, but still didn't deliver.

As many may already know, I generally don't like naming names, whether on a positive or negative tone. I sincerely believe everyone should DYOR and learn from their own mistakes with the basic rule to never go all in on one single opportunity, but rather spread your chances around a bit. You'll find that some of your choices outperform the other and some were just destined to fail. But if we don't at least sometimes name some examples by name, how are we to learn from it or at least be able to recognize the patterns for future reference and avoid making the same mistakes? So the following are projects I myself had first hand experience with, not because I invested in them, but because their hype and name got my attention and I kept an eye on them ever since. This is by no means 'naming and shaming' btw, these actually were legit projects at one time that had a lot of people excited about their proposition and crypto but in the long run, just didn't deliver. Maybe I should say didn't deliver yet since who knows, maybe some actually still might some day. So without further ado:

I my personal experiences, because of the vast amount of support this project used to have, the rather high ranking, dubbed as the "Ethereum killer" and hence undisputed number one in this list: EOS

Back in the day EOS used to be one of those top ranking cryptos that was still widely called "undervalued". At it's height during the legendary 2018 run EOS was over well over 18 Dollars, it never came close to that ever since and is sitting idle at around 3 Dollars for one year now. That's four years already. There have been projects that didn't even exist back then that now delivered more than EOS did. Their social media is filled with disappointed comments, trolls and hate, with still a few believers left though that still try to show their support to the team. What's also striking is that it seems they also haven't been even active on their social media since November/December 2021. Before that they were at least communicating something a few times a month🤔

Now to be fair and as stated in the intro, this is not "a scam" as some disappointed investors call it, EOS it's ROI is actually still about 180% up, but one does have to take into account that it's inception was over 5 years ago and that since then both price and development have indeed been disappointing.

Next up WTC WaltonChain. This one is less familiar to me but also one of those proclaimed "hidden gems" I noticed but never got involved with. Named after RFID inventor Charlie Walton, WaltonChain claimed to be "IoT Blockchain". To be more specific, WTC combined blockchain with RFID Internet of Things to improve the supply chain management. Basically meaning interconnectivity which they dubbed the VIoT: Value Internet of Things.

Now all this sounds actually great on paper and almost, almost reeled me in. And to be perfectly honest with you, I don't quite remember why it didn't😂 As some of you may already know, I categorize my portfolio based on the types of real world problems blockchain may solve. supply chain cryptos were a huge, huge interest of mine and as some may be aware, I at the time eventually opted for VeChain, CXO, SHIP and TRAC. Three of these four are no longer in my portfolio btw. CXO due to it's radical change in policy, the SHIP sank a long time ago and as for VeChain, well, F your timing Sunny, thanks a lot😂 Getting back to WaltonChain, the project is over six years old and is not only outperformed by Bitcoin, it's ROI is unlike EOS actually negative by -50%. What's most astounding is that during the 2018 run, WTC reached a staggering 40 Dollars per coin and has now been siting idle around the 1 Dollar line for over three years. All this of course to much delight and enthusiasm of it's community. I'm not even going to fish in comments for this one, just two screenshots of replies to two random posts they made will illustrate the mood quite well I think

The next one is a bit of a mystery to me. I never really cared for it's promise or project, but I somehow always remembered it, I guess that's because of it's rather bold claims and odd nature. Nucleus Vision aka NCASH aka (now rebranded to) Nitro Network. Yes another one of those 2018 bull run profiteers that never quite lived up to expectation. To be fair though, if you really expected an ERC20 to do actually do what NCASH claimed to do, you may have set yourself up for the fall. I mean seriously, this was a token, the people behind it didn't even develop their own blockchain yet you allowed them to sell you the claim that they would develop global revolutionary tech that could identify people and their intentions or needs by just walking by one of their partnership stores? I'm not exaggerating, this actually was their goal and was advertised as such in their first video that got the most attention and views. It was pretty much all downhill from there for those that believed the hype.

Last up, two projects I used to call the Electro-duo: Electra and Electroneum. We already covered ETN in an earlier post so the focus now is on Electra. Yeah, I almost forgot about this one, the "revolutionary financial management system that will help merchants around the world....blabla 800 transactions per second bla...only 60 second confirmation bla...much more blabla than Bitcoin". Lot of hype in 2018 around this one for some reason where it almost actually reached a whole penny per ECA. Never mind all in, can you just imagine putting a grand in at that price? Your ROI would be about 75 cents now🥴

Seriously, this👇 was actually their last post online before literally crashing in the abyss

But to be fair though they did move on to XEP or whatever, where they are apparently stuck in 2017/8 when just about any "partnership announcement" would get people hyped up and make the price jump 3X

Yeah that's what I want my crypto to be doing in 2022, volleyball🏐

So in conclusion, how disappointed or angry would you be if you did put all your eggs in any of these baskets? I mean, Bitcoin or Ethereum was sitting right there in front of you begging you to choose them and you chose to go for some lower ranking crypto with hopes of getting higher returns, and ended up getting outperformed by not just other cryptos, but by Bitcoin itself.😑

But you know, there is a lesson within the lesson to be learned here. In my own case, even the supply chain cryptos I opted for failed to some extent. Only one truly exceeded my expectations, while another failed miserably, the two others are actually doing ok but no longer with me for different reasons, CargoX by choice and VeChain by curse🪄🧙‍♂️. So that's two out of four, I guess you can say it's pretty much a tie and a good illustration as to why you diversify. Did I miss out on a small fortune by not going all in on the right one? Yes of course, but one has to be objective and recognize that you also avoided losing it all. We don't have a crystal ball or time machines, life doesn't work that way, the only way we can maximize our chances to at least have some benefit is to diversify.

In closing I would like to reemphasize that the mentioned cryptos are still around and that's it's not fair to relate them to scams like e.g. Bonfire or Bitles. So who knows, even though I really don't count on it they all do have a chance to still surprise us in the future. Well, all expect Shipchain I guess😂

Things are almost never as they seem. If you sincerely think that world powers would spend their money and resources in order to just "help" citizens from foreign nations, you might want to ask yourself why they've been neglecting and out right murdering their own citizens for decades. What are their true motives for wanting to fund foreign (terror) groups, start global confrontations and wars? I'll let you in on a little secret; It has NOTHING to do with "human rights" nor "democracy".
