The covid-19 pandemic continues to pick hundreds of victims in some western states. Nevertheless, the favorable trend of a slight decrease in newly deceased or infected people is beginning to be more clearly confirmed in many European countries. Spain, which is the third most affected country after the US and Italy, has reported a daily increase in deaths of less than 400 daily for some time.
More than 2.4 million cases of coronavirus infection and 165,000 victims have been reported worldwide. Only from the USA have been reported to 765,000 infected and over 40,000 dead. The most critical situation is in New York and New Jersey.
In Spain, over the past 24 hours, 399 deaths have been added, less than a day earlier. The number of newly infected people also decreased slightly. There are now 200,000 of them, making Spain the second most affected country in the world after the United States.
In Russia, an additional 4268 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection have been added over the past 24 hours, with a total of 47,121 infected people registered in the country. This is a significant decline compared to data from Sunday, when a record daily increase of 6060 infected was reported.
The deaths of infected patients have so far been registered in the largest country in the world 405. Moscow remains the main focus of the spread of infection. In Ekaterinburg, they had to quarantine the central city hospital after the first tests showed 78 patients and doctors had been infected.
Today Norway has reopened nurseries, Denmark has a hairdresser, beauty salons and driving schools. In Germany, shops with an area of up to 800 square meters were opened as well as all car, bicycle and book shops. German car manufacturer Volkswagen resumed production in Zwickau and its Bratislava plant.
After Saxony, the mandatory wearing of masks in shops and transport has been announced by Bavaria since next week. Also in Luxembourg, mandatory covering of the mouth and nose in public. On the other hand, in Slovakia from Tuesday, as in the Czech Republic, it will not be obligatory to wear masks for example for children under two years of age, even when moving outdoors while keeping the distances.
Many people are patient with measures taken to combat coronavirus. In the USA, protests against quarantine erupted in several places in the past few days. "Closing trades and dividing them into winners and losers depending on whether they are important or unnecessary is a violation of the federal constitution," Tyler Miller, the organizer of one such meeting in Washington, told reporters.
Pope Francis urged politicians to put aside their disputes and fight the pandemic uniformly. "Today we pray for men and women who make their living by politics," the Pope said at the opening of the morning private mass.
US President Donald Trump pledged to increase production of coronavirus testing aids. The US is now testing too few people, according to critics of the Trump administration, but the president said it was a mistake by state governments, not the federal government, to strike out tonight.
