Many other developers and publishers are trying to find their way on Nintendo Switch. The console continues to grow, along with the desire of gamers to play their favorite games not only at home but also on the go. Evidence can be other well-known games on Switch. Whether it was Alien: Isolation, The Witcher 3, or Doom Eternal and others. The first game is always the hardest. The proof can be just mentioned Doom. Panic Button for Bethesda ported these games to Switch and while the first modern Doom was the most problematic and lasted the longest, with the next part and Wolfenstein games it was easier. His first game for Switch has now brought the Russian Gaijin, which is known mainly game War Thunder.
But there are two questions - whether they have chosen the right title to launch their Switch support, but whether they have grabbed porting to the console in the right way. Blades of Time is not a known title. It was released in 2012, so the game has really been forgotten in those 7 years. Moreover, it was not considered the best at the time of release. Rather, it was a B-type that just got through the diameter. And as if that wasn't enough, the console versions of the game had quite a lot of technical problems. Given the mark that you have certainly not missed, you probably already know where I am going all in the Switch version review.

Blades of Time is a sequel to the 2007 X-Blades mower (2009 in the world), and although few of them are remembered today, I would say that the first part was a little more familiar. Number two did more, not only in the field of gameplay, but also in the story. In the game, we meet again with the scantily clad warrior Ayumi, who is the main character and has a taste for the treasures of the mysterious island, where he will take you with him. However, you will soon find out that it is not only about treasure, but also about finding a lost friend and especially fighting a number of magical enemies to free this island from the power of dark magic.
And while Ayumi herself is a character you will easily fall in love with, the story is the opposite. The main character lent the voice of British actress Miranda Raison and breathed the character's life. Also thanks to her speech, the character will be interesting throughout the playing time. Here and there she wouldn't forgive the biting comments, which would add to her charm. Unfortunately, she is alone. Other actors are not lagging behind, but they are particularly harmful to the overall scenario of the game, which is not really worth much. It is chaotic, sometimes jumps from place to place, it is easy to get lost in the story and actually never catches you too much to pay more attention to. So very soon you'll find that you just skip the prestige scenes.
The game offers 10 missions across a wide variety of environments in its story. You will pass through the desert, jungle, mysterious temples, but also clouds where you learn to fly. From this point of view it is really colorful and I would even say that the game keeps a good pace. But here I am writing about the Switch version, which simply does not keep up the good pace and is due to poor quality control in the studio. Otherwise, I cannot explain that at least once per level, the game has always fallen completely and returned to the main console menu with an error message. Even on a PC with a billion configurations it could be survived, but this is a console.

Gaming time is about 10 hours, but it is also very frequent by these falls, it just disgusts you and decide to give up on it. You have only one nerve, and this is not worth it. However, the story campaign is not the only game mode and you can also find online multiplayer, both cooperative and competitive. Here you fight against waves of enemies and even a little reminiscent of MOBA games. Opposing you is an enemy player, each of you has a base, each sends a "creep" to the other, and you are trying to destroy the base of the other. The second is that there was no shortage of players, although sometimes it took more time to find out.
The campaign is not so bad in terms of what it offers. It's not even a miracle, it is exactly that half of the qualitative spectrum, so the 50% would really hit the game. At the heart of it is a classic hack and slash, where Ayumi has two swords, cuts hordes of enemies and gradually gets into her hands new weapons. But over time, you also learn new combos and gain new magical attacks to help you in combat. None of this is somewhat extra demanding, it is still based on the same attack pattern, but it works well. In addition, you often choose which attacks to invest in, so you are making a way in a style that suits you. You will always learn new techniques in the training arena first.
Fights are even more diversified with other options, from the classic ones such as dashing, which will often help you in combat. Occasionally you have to use guns and rifles, but those in the game really do not have much use. Except for a few moments when you have to dispose of something from a distance. Much more interesting, however, is the time manipulation system, which is not seen very often in hack and slash games and really quite classic gameplay. Ayumi has the opportunity to return in time in such a way that it can create its temporal "clone". This way, several characters can run in one place while you have the energy to work with time. It is used in fights, when you fight with the enemy at once. You can even attack some types just like this. And it also uses the game for the puzzles you come across and require, for example, simultaneously pressing two switches at two different locations.

Unfortunately, the aforementioned crash problems are not the only technical problems of the game. The optimization itself is also poor. The Switch has bigger and much better looking games that move much better. The Blades of Time graphics no longer have a bad sign of time and its style was not just timeless, so it does not look best. But that doesn't stop there, and the game is also really poor. While they have a stable and fast capture time for more time, when you load new sites or even rooms, you experience a nasty framedropy. And this is another thing that simply cannot pass through quality control unless it is deflated. Also, the sound did not age best, but at least it does not carry similar problems.
Do you want a Nintendo Switch mower? Definitely do not take Blades of Time. This game was just a problem flat at the time of release and now shows that it has not passed the test of time. Moreover, the switch port proves that the authors did not manage even this part of the work and the old technical problems of the original versions were added by new ones, although they should not be here. Take Darksiders or anything else and genre loved. Avoid this game at least until technical issues are fixed.
