Zero

Zero

By emily2u | From the Heart | 20 Mar 2021

Everything I’m using is on loan,
Have no possessions of my own;
Going to leave it to fate.
Zero is success achieved ‘til now,
To get on with life, wonder how;
Hope fortune won’t be too late.

Zero is time spent at university,
No idea what’s ‘escape velocity’.
Though the chips are down,
Perhaps I’ll have verve anew,
Helping me to continue;
Strength must be quickly found.

I’m doing the nitty-gritty,
Today, at age xxx-ty.
My life needs taking stock,
To see how far there is still to go;
Quite a distance, I’m told,
And had a major shock.
