Tormented

Tormented

Tormented I am,
Each morning over my cuppa,
Reading the papers,
Reports of brutality against girls.

My heart bleeds for our children,
Tortured, raped, murdered;
Despicable, heinous acts
On these children of God.

Our future lies with the young but …
Life’s pulled from under their feet.
No idea the world’s ruthless,
Does one deserve to suffer this way?

Certainly not the innocent ones,
Young ladies, teenagers, infants;
Bashed up, strangled, killed…
How much tougher could life get?
