Materialism

Materialism

By emily2u | From the Heart | 3 May 2021

A girl’s going down the street,
In one of the factory uniforms.
She’s part of the new breed,
Who wears chunky platforms.

She’s perpetually chewing gum,
Grazing goods in retail outlets.
Joined by an old school chum,
Dreaming to be starlets.

Both are fashion conscious,
With hopes of being spotted.
To make it big, they’re serious,
Perhaps, by rich guys, courted.

They’re moving to the top,
After all, money’s what matters.
They’re aiming for the jackpot,
Live the fantasy of their fathers.
