City Lights

City Lights

By emily2u | From the Heart | 22 Jul 2021

Hopped on a bus,
Lured by the city lights,
Forgot about the grime and dust,
No rest even after sleepless nights.

Left behind mundane living
And also my beloved home.
Parents were most unforgiving,
So from now on, I’m on my own.

With a little experience under my belt,
Steeled my mind to go thru’ this plan.
The folks’ hearts I shall melt,
Show them how well I blend.

Here in the city
Where my future lies,
My dreams will become a reality ---
I’ll be looked upon with new eyes.
