There are going to be a lot of people asking. Even more people than there already were. And many more selling on the street. Some beggars, others street vendors. They are not bad, they don't want to bother: they want to belong.

They are those who were left out and those who will be left out of the system. And they were not left out because they were stupid, weak, lazy. Not for lack of merit. You really have to be a complete idiot to believe that you get what you dream and pursue. I am not going here to develop ideas that should already be known.

They are left out as I could easily be left out. Or you. Or a friend or family member. They took away our tools and knowledge. Not yesterday nor 80 years ago. They were taken from us when the world was organized between possessors and dispossessed, and it was the first who set the rules of the game.

I ask you who are reading to walk in the street with an open, pious, merciful heart. When you come across a beggar, try to give him something: a bread, a ticket, a word of humanity, a smile. Under the rags you saw, behind that smell that makes you frown, there is not a demon, there is a human. A sufferer.

He is really very tough. Don't mistreat street vendors. Yes, we can be annoying and insistent. Just like the advertising that invades you daily, and that ends up convincing you to buy exactly what you don't need. That's the sale.

You can have university degrees, be a businessman, student, philosopher, greengrocer, newsagent, footballer, teacher. All of this is of no use if you have a hardened heart.

Be impatient and sarcastic and lucid and ruthless with the powerful. Not with beggars and street vendors.
And another thing, always try to carry some candies in your pockets. In case that salesman or that beggar becomes a child.
A piece of candy will not fix the world, but believe me, you will be able to soften the look of that creature stupidly hurt by the economy and politics.

We can make a more human world, with a small daily gesture.
