This week's Battle Mage rule set challenge was Even Stevens in which only even mana monsters may be used...
Even Stevens general strategy....
Well there's not too much to say, other than opt for the best splinter possible that has the best even mana monsters available, water springs to mind as in the example below...
EVENS battle exemplar
The [battle below]sl_15e124425025511a4c7911b4ad7377e2) shows a battle featuring the Water splinter in a comprehensive victory. It's interesting to note the same summoners being used and my victory!
Mana and rulesets:
- mana 22
- Even Stevens only.
Summoner - Keyla
- Water Monster - an ever reliable tank.
- Chicken - always need those 0 manas!
- Torrent Fiend - 0 mana TWO!
- DeepLurker - the main opportunity damage card.
- Ice Pixie - a decent card for 2 mana
- Pirate Archer - another decent 2 mana damage card!
The battle...
- round 1 - My magic attack takes out the Chicken
- round 2 - I take out the Zenith Archer, with only me second opportunity attack! I lose my chicken
- round 3 - we trade blows for no loss
- round 4 - I take out both Oshea and the Squid.
- round 5 - it's all over, and I am 5 for 6!
Final battle analysis
I've got to hand it to the two main melee attack cards - the DeepLurker took out the Zenith Archer early on and him and the Sea Monster did the business on Osheanus.
It's yet another example of an unimaginative reliance on Osheanus by an opponent, so weak against anything that isn't magic!
