I really enjoyed reading this post by @empoderat - 'three altcoins for your everyday usage- he's well worth a follow btw.
I actually went straight to Binance and bought some more AVA on the back of reading it, and I will now almost certainly aim to get the minimum 500 AVA you need to stake for some pretty decent returns.
(Although I'm in no rush to buy that much - you know Crypto, this time next week it might be slightly cheaper, and if it moons in the meantime, well I've still made a nice profit.)
I can really see the utility of a travel blockchain. I mean, it's almost as if the technology was made for it!
As to the other coins @empoderat mentioned - I liked the look of the credit card coin, I've yet to explore that, also I (honestly) got onto Uniswap and hovered my finger over the 'trade' button on the punt coin, then decided I'd rather keep my ETH - the punt had just doubled in price, which kind of put me off!
And I did promise myself I wouldn't repeat 2017 with the alts - but I've already bought into RUNE and now AVA, I need to be careful!
I still think Hive is by far the most useable chain/ token
I just can't help but see Hive as being streaks ahead of all other chains in terms of utility.

I might be biased, I make my living out of 'real blogging' after all, so this may be subjective, it's useful for me.
But let's not forget what a great concept the 'Proof of Brain' principle is - only four years old and you can now you mine new Hive and its (centrally controlled) derivatives by posting text to the blockchain and other accounts vote to determine how the freshly minted Hive is distributed, based on the text you've printed (along with the visuals, beautified via various front ends).
OK OK yes, Proof of Brain is really more like 'Proof of how much HP your mates on Discord have' so it is flawed, but sometimes it works, and most people earn nothing on other social media platforms let's not forget.
Or you can power up and earn curation rewards for voting.
Or earn in a host of other ways. I mean I play mainly just three games on Hive - I'm not a gamer, but I earn more than game tokens by writing about said games and interacting with people.
All in all it's the only Chain i know that really works to link users together via on-chain text - all be it beautified by the loverly front ends DEVs have linked to said chain.
I mean, if it weren't for @leofinance I wouldn't even know about AVA.
So I might just end up transferring some liquid Hive and LEO over to buy some more AQA, and I might buy some of all three of those coins @empoderat mentioned, but I probably won't be powering down anything to do so.
Hive's my bag, hopefully not in the crypto-literal sense of the phrase for too much longer!
I feel a host of Hive and LEO shill posts coming on in the build up to Xmas, apologies in advance. It's kind of where the muse is taking me right now!
